Not online yet though right? Need to call?
Yeah you need to call.
Sorry, but it still amazes me that folks haven’t figured out an online payment method so even going into the clubhouse can be completely avoided.
It’s a bit wild for sure.
We’re all set with tons of precautions - gloves/mask for clubhouse, mask until we get away from the first tee area, wipes as needed, etc.
Thank goodness. Me and my youngest (6) will be walking 18 tomorrow at TPC for sure.
How was Rackham Saturday?
I played Pontiac CC with some friends and it was a bit of a shit show. They weren’t taking tee times, so it was first come first served. There was about an hour wait at 11 with groups lined up on the first tee. Other than an occasional “please try to maintain six feet of distance” from the one guy in the pro shop, there wasn’t anyone directing traffic. Once on the course it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, about 4.5 hours. No raised cups, rakes still in bunkers.
Hey, Rackham was great and well prepared. No walk ups allowed, no bunching at first tee, masks required in the clubhouse, cups with foam inside the cups, and no rakes. My foursome played in a little over 4 hours and only had to wait a bit on the back 9.
Also, holes 12-16 at Rackham are some of the best there are. Front nine mostly stinks aside from a couple fun greens. Damn you, 696.
16th hole is a GREAT par 3.
Back 9 is definitely the better side but I think 6 is one of the best holes on the course. That green is probably the best out there.
14 is probably my favorite, reminds me of 13 at Western CC.
It’s a great par 5. 15 is my favorite - I love being by the zoo, the big bunker in front of the fairway, and the deep green sloping back to front.
I was at Rackham Sunday afternoon. Course was in good shape overall. It was a VERY busy day on the tee sheet, so not surprised at my day but here we are.
Unfortunately, I did not have the experience @weirdfishes had. We had 4 groups lined up ahead of us on the 1st tee at our scheduled time and played through a death march of roughly 5 hours.
The starter tried to rush us off before the group ahead hit, we got hit into later, and multiple people looking for golf balls walked onto our hole with no regard for any other group that could be hitting right at them.
if anyone is in northern michigan near petoskey - charlevoix and wants to social distantly play, i am in. we are posting up here and i will play just about every day. Boyne has a good trial membership deal worth investigating if you can play 3-4 times a week during this crazy
Just finished up a solo round at Rouge Park, my first time playing the course. All in all, it’s in pretty good shape right now. It drizzled most of my round, which wasn’t all that bad, but provided the added benefit of having the entire course all of myself. Literally, I was the only golfer there the entire time. Just me and these guis.
I just saw that Little Traverse Bay was closed, that was always on my list of courses to play in that part of the state. I’m bummed to never get a chance to play.
it was my favorite independent course in the area. a gem. Arthur Hills is a must and weirdly gets less attention than The Heather next door. Put it on the list. And Twilight at Bay Harbor gives you both the cheaper rate but sunset as well.
Might be a hot take: The Heather is the most overrated course in Michigan.
I’m a huge fan of the Arthur Hills course.
Thoughts on Coyote Preseve, Majestic, and Northville Hills?
I haven’t played them but a couple times each but dig em all.
I need to visit the GR area for golf. I usually get stuck at the breweries.
I love northville hills, coyote is a little tricked up and not in the best shape always and majestic is some good “up north” golf without having to go up north
What a bummer. I absolutely loved LTB. It was the first course I ever played outside of metro-Detroit. Looks like the new owner will be making into a nature reserve? Could be worse, I guess!
Also, I definitely agree with @Finish and @CaddieCoveralls. Arthur Hills is a terrific track. #13 is the most memorable, and for good reason, but the whole layout is wonderful. Bay Harbor (Links/Quarry) blew me away, too.
