Roll Call: Michigan - get out and play!

@golf4miami - Livonia resident checking in here; I’m not going to pretend Livonia is an interesting place to hang out, it is objectively boring, but its got some things going for it that make it a good place to live. You get a ton of city services for your taxes, school system is great, and the neighborhoods are well kept. We’ve got 3 muni courses too…they’re not going to blow your mind, but waking up at the crack of dawn and sneaking out the house for a sunrise round 5 minutes away is nice.

Geographically speaking Livonia puts you in a good spot to get to a good portion of the western suburbs and the city. I can get to Detroit, Ann Arbor, Wixom, or the airport in about 20-25 minutes.

We had driven around Livonia a bit and were worried about finding a yard, but digging in again it appears there are some options.

I make the Rochester Hills to Plymouth/Canton/Livonia almost every other Sunday to golf and it’s not worth it on a Sunday morning. Can’t imagine that every day during rush hour.

Shameless self-promotion. First-ever PGA Tour Superstore in Michigan is coming to Novi next year.

I have heard from someone fairly high at PGASS store this could be one of 2 on the East side to come, with an additional third store located in the GR area around 2025. Subject to change of course but this is the current plan.

Arthur blank trying to buy up Michigan? I’ll actually be interested to see how it does in the east side with carls being there.

Anyone know prices of PGASS? Hard to imagine it competing with Maple Hill in the GR area, outside of maybe apparel brands they don’t carry at MH.

That was the main thing the person I talked to mentioned. How Carls will respond.

From what I’ve heard PGASS would be close to a golf galaxy. But I have never been to one so take that as you will.

It doesn’t seem necessary at all with Golf Galaxy having several stores and of course, Carls.

Doesn’t seem like the need is there but what the hell do I know?

I’m not convinced they’re moving in from a need perspective but from a perspective of “we think we can beat carls/gg.” I’m not sure how they’ll do that, but I don’t necessarily hate competition for the consumer I guess

Gg sucks imo if pgass was 20 minutes away (gg is 10 for me and Carls 30) I’d go there

Agree. I go to GG more because it’s 3 minutes from my house…but I really don’t buy much in store anymore

When I find a b&m that sells crispy vintage blades I’ll be a regular.

Prices at PGASS are better than GG? I’m totally unfamiliar with them.

My assumption is that prices are pretty standard across the board. I forget who said it, but I believe the majority of golf product is MAP’d

Hellllooo Michiganders… I’ve semi officially resigned from the 2nd City Golf Club and would love to join the @FreshCoastFlock. I have no idea if this is the proper way to do so as it’s been years since I’ve been regularly involved here on the ‘fuge, but I just wanted to take this exhausted champagne-fueled moment after driving to our new home in E Lansing to say hello. 2 young children in the brood have kept me from playing as much as I’d like to, but am excited to learn more about what pure Michigan has to offer and means.

Welcome to the flock! Slack invite in your DMs. We’ve got a few guys in the Lansing area, always good to have another. Check out the chats, the roost board, and hmu if you have any questions!

If you’re moving from Chicago, get ready to have your mind blown at how much easier it is to play golf here!

Threw it in the slack, but have a tee time at Washtenaw at 12pm if anyone is interested. It’s 20-25 to walk I believe.

Good evening fellow Michiganders! New Nest member here from Holland, trying to figure out how to navigate this whole thing. (advice welcomed)

Few months until we’re playing golf again, but looking forward to getting involved and hoping to get out on the course with some new people!
