Is Beaver Creek private? For some reason I thought it was. Other than that I think Holly Hills is the only private course within like 45 minutes of Frederick.
It’s semi private, but since reopening with covid it’s only open for member play for the time being (I believe).
Good to know. I remember looking at their website once upon a time and they were pretty keen on pace of play too. Will have to keep that in mind if the world ever gets back to normal.
Definitely great with pace of play in my experience. Can’t recall ever going past 4 hours out there.
Phenomenal news
They’ve cut down sooooo many trees in the past year at Worthington. It’s definitely opened it up even more so you can cut some corners on tee shots (like the 7th). I dislike a lot of the high grass areas but those have been tamed a bit. My buddies and I walk there at least a couple times a month. Tough but fair course. It’s one of the firmest and fastest in the area for sure.
Fun story about Beaver Creek. I played there about a month before my son was born. I was playing really well but when we got to the 13th hole my wife called. She said “You don’t need to come home right away, but make sure you have your phone with you.” Turned out to be a false alarm and he was born 3 or 4 weeks later. But needless to say I was a bit distracted and played like crap on the closing holes.
Really excited to see what the projects will look like and to get great public golf in the DC area! The muni golf around DC isn’t as good as Baltimore, so glad to see the investment from the city.
Good Morning Gents,
I’m playing Musket Ridge for the first time this weekend. Has anyone been out there recently? I have no idea what to expect.
Been awhile but it’s usually in very good shape. Another course with some good mountain views!
I’m looking forward to playing on Saturday. I have played Whiskey and Worthington manor a bunch and have been trying to get to Musket Ridge and Maryland National for some time now.
So…we’ve been talking about a regional event in the Virginia roll call thread. Would anyone in here be interested in starting a VA v. MD Ryder Cup event?
Play there weekly
Been firm and fast if late
It’s a fun course, I’m sure you’ll like it
Depends on when/where but yes.
Sure thing
Did you determine where DC fits into the competition?
No statehood. Doesn’t count.
So our federal tax dollars are good enough for you but we still get excluded from Ryder Cup style matches!?!! That’s harsh
There will be a DC v VA President’s Cup between the MD v VA Ryder Cup
