Roll Call: Colorado -- @PJM v Colorado Golfers, @PJM only half guilty

Great playing @ajsmith! Closed me out with a clutch birdie on 16. While I’m bummed, looking forward to sending it with driver everywhere on Saturday in hopes of a skin or two. As usual, the course was in great shape. Greens were sanded recently but should be rolling great for the finals

It was a blast. 7-Wood nation approves!

The greens are still recovering? Sheesh. They aerated the second week of September I think.

@jskovgaard - do you need any help with anything for Saturday?

I’m going to take you up on that if you don’t mind.

Also, @rramsbo and I got 130 next Monday if any locals want to join and sherpa. I am sure we can toss you a beer or two as thanks (because that’s about 85% of what we’ll be doing while in Denver anyways).

Big congrats the @ajsmith on advancing, the stage is officially set.

@DeadMan not that I can think of, working on the groupings today and format for the field. Homestead should be getting back to me about pre paying tee times today, if not we’ll have everyone pay there and just Venmo me skins $. Information coming tonight

Who are you working with at Homestead? Hopefully Mike Malena or Bryce. Hopefully not Mike Kramer, because he can be an asshole.

Been talking to a guy named Craig, I think he’s more with city of Lakewood than Homestead, super nice guy

Ah. No, Craig is the head pro at both Homestead and Lakewood. He’s a nice guy, but a terrible head pro. Won’t matter for Saturday though, so I’ll keep those thoughts to myself…

Hahaha he approved the boozing gallery which was all I cared about, we should be good for a bevy cart or two as well. Also Saturday is looking like an absolute beaut weather wise

Get a beverage or two in me, and I can complain a lot about him, hahaha. Probably don’t even need the beverage.

For a taste, go play the revamped Canyon 5 at Fox Hollow. They re-did it and somehow made it worse. Incredible.

I didn’t know that was possible

Hope you like a firm fairway (this will change as the sod beds in more) that funnels the ball downhill to a hazard. If you miss the hazard, you have a downhill lie on a 150-200 yard shot. There’s less rough to stop the ball and no flat lies at all. Good luck, fuckers!

But it’s worth it because they no longer have to pay someone to sit out there and change the sign from red to green…

To be fair, there’s now a huge bailout area left of the green, but it still requires at least a 50 yard carry off a downhill lie. Going to be a lot of bad golfers losing balls on that hole. More than before, which is saying something.

It doesn’t make a huge difference if you can hit a 150 yard shot off a downhill lie, which most of us here can. But they still made it worse. And spent probably 2 million dollars of public money to do it.

I’m out on Fox Hollow Canyon, out out out. Not that I wasn’t already out before, now I’m really out

I was actually arguing with a guy about this at Inverness last Friday, claims Homestead isn’t a real golf course, also claims Fox is one of the best courses in town, I about threw him in the pond on 5 for not knowing anything about what makes a golf course ‘good’

Yeah, I get that. I think it’s fine from the blue tees, but miserable from the black tees. There are some things they could have done with that hole that would have made it way better (like moving the tees back a bit and making it a risk/reward par 5). But that would require some creativity from Lakewood/Craig, so it’s out.

It’s definitely not one of the best courses in town. It’s fine, and I enjoy it. But I wouldn’t recommend it over any of our usual good courses (Riverdale, CommonGround, Walnut). Links is good. Meadows is fine, and has some good holes. If they got a decent architect to redo Canyon, I bet it could be really good with a few tweaks. Not happening anytime soon though.

yea lots of missed opportunities out there. Links has actually really grown on me, it’s good.

sadly, it will always live in the shadow of it’s little brother, Homestead

Are there any tee time details for this Saturday?

Trying to figure out what time of o’crack’ofdawn I need to get up to drive to the other side of the metro area.

@rka tee times, pairings and teams/team names will be posted this afternoon

My opinion is that golf courses should accommodate players who struggle to get the ball up and have a max distance of 200 to still get around and have fun on every hole, from the appropriate tees.

So with that being said:

:partycage: Champions Day Announcement :partycage:

Gentlemen, we made it, Champions Day is right around the corner. In spirit with it being Ryder Cup szn, the field along with Super League competitors (serving as team captains) will square off in a team based points event. Team names will be represented by our favorite color commentators from either side of the pond, respectfully. Below I present you, Team Azinger and Team Faldo

As well, here are the team pairings for this epic clash of idiots

All matches outside of the SL semi-final matches will be standard 4ball matches. Players will be given 90% of their course handicap allowance for all matches, 4ball and singles. At lunch we will tally up the points and see which bad commentator reigns supreme, there can be only 1. Then it will be onto spectating and heckling in the afternoon.

A few other important notes

  • if you are interested in participating in skins, please Venmo me $10 before Saturday, my handle is “@Joseph-Skovgaard”, if you don’t have venmo bring cash on Saturday, we will settle skins up at lunch.
  • Still checking in on pre-paying tee times, will get back to everyone if they call and request it, otherwise just all pay individually in the pro shop when you arrive
  • If anyone has any questions at all, reach out to me directly (719) 331-0356 — just don’t make me regret posting my cell #
  • Lastly, good luck to AJ, Matt, Preston and Paul in their super league bouts

See you scumbags on Saturday
