Did I hear someone say they might need a set of clubs to use? We might have a selection for them to choose from!
My buddy is not a golfer but when I visit him or visits me I drag him to the course so he’s definitely not picky
Well, I have two sets of blades I could lend (@Renlibrarian might also have a few more options, but I’ll let him chime in for himself).
Blade options:
- PGA Metrilite system 2-pw
- Wilson Goosenecks 2-pw
I also have a Mizuno 001 3-wood to put in the set, and I think we also have a driver we could include, but I’d have to get back to you on that.
The only thing we don’t have extra of are high loft wedges, I don’t think. The pitching wedges are probably around a loft of 50°, anyways, since the clubs are of 1980’s vintage. Oh, and I don’t think we have a bag…
If those things aren’t deal breakers, we are around in Chicago until the first week of August, about. Let us know if we can lend a hand!
@Renlibrarian and I have a tee time for 3:30pm tomorrow at Jackson park. I think there may be 2 slots still open, if anyone wants to join us!
Got a simulator and tree planting budget to fund.
Anybody wanna come watch @jbrey and I duel in the semis tomorrow? Got an opening. 7 am spring valley.
dual in the semis
I recently moved to Lisle/Naperville area. Played West/South at Arrowhead for the first time today and the course was in great condition. Just moved here so usually go out as a single. Always looking for people to play in the W/SW suburbs.
Ok, I need some help and I’m hoping there’s some insight I can gain here.
I got a call that I can go up and play Mammoth Dunes tomorrow afternoon and then the Dunes again on Monday morning with a SV round in the afternoon.
My question is what are the off property accomodations like near there?
Looks like the cheapest room at SV is $265 a night, and that’s assuming I can get someone on the phone there tomorrow.
Anyone have any experience with any of the other motels/resorts near there?
Have stayed at Lake Arrowhead which is less than 15 minutes away. Was pretty solid, clean, nothing to write home about. Pretty sure it’s much cheaper than staying on property.
I saw that one. Thanks, that helps.
Totally ok with “nothing special”, just trying to avoid “might have been a crime scene yesterday”
I can second the attest for Lake Arrowhead. Lodging was perfectly acceptable and the two courses there were pleasant surprises (especially for about $35 to walk or something like that) if you have some extra time.
Group of us are playing at 1230 at mt p Saturday. The 1240 is open if any of you want to grab it.
CC’ing the new gui, @gcole
Highlands of Elgin 8/15
Doing a bump to see where everyone stands on this.
First, still plenty of room if more want to sign up.
I talked with the course and given that we currently have 19 golfers signed up (way to show out Chicagoland) it makes the most sense to do a golf outing so everyone can be grouped together. It’s $64 plus the $200 deposit spread out over the number of golfers. I would front the deposit. Cart, bucket of balls, plus supplies if we want to do long drive, closest to the pin, etc. Can’t tee off until noon.
The alternative is about $75 per golfer and we have multiple people sign up two weeks in advance to try and get tee times together. But we could theoretically tee off earlier in the day
I’ve added a yes/no column to the spreadsheet, let me know relatively soon
I’ll play. Do I need to reach out to them and reserve the time?
Nah, it’s booked in my name. Just show up at pay at the window. See you there!
Hey guis, fellow midwest refugee here. I’m flying into Chicago for a week on business and am hoping to bring the sticks and play a round or two if I have time. I’m staying downtown but will have a car and am down to drive for good golf. Any recommendations?
Next week? This week?
I’m down for some twilight golf - could rope in about 14 other Chicago folks as well
