I would imagine it drains fine. Plenty of wetland areas at the low points, but I’ve never played it after a rain. Far enough from Salt Creek that it definitely does not have the problems they have across the street at the Preserve at Oak Meadows.
It’s fairly straightforward and not particularly difficult. I’ve played it in a couple of work outings, so can’t say what pace of play is like on a normal day. I’ve torn it up a couple times, so it may just seem easy to me. It’s not entirely uninteresting.
Played Preserve across the street this afternoon and seemed in fine shape after rain so guessing MM is just dandy. It can be a bit of a challenge for new golfers at times. Certainly plenty of opportunities to lose balls. Just speaking from experience having played it several times early in my golf playing.
But I also have a knack for losing balls, lost four in two holes today. Dios Mio.
Grew up in Wilmette. Peter Jans was, quite frankly, more of a place to walk your dog than a golf course. I love what they have done with the place. They no longer allow cars to park on the greens during Northwestern tailgates, which is also nice
Anyone playing Saturday or Sunday with an extra spot? It’s been weeks since I have played after a run of at least once a week since the season started. I am itching to shoot 100
I don’t think anyone wants to see me that early in the morning.
The 5am start time was why I didn’t try out for crew—I learned early in life from morning practice for swim team that I am a horrible human being at that time in the morning.
Like, the tongue-in-cheek barbs we see here turn into full on “shut up or I’ll literally stab you with my butter knife of a 2 iron.”
I was expecting to get back to Chicago tomorrow afternoon but it’s looking like Friday evening instead or else I’d love to. Thanks for the invite though
Also (I had written this, but forgot to hit post) very special thanks to @EConroy419 and @baldvinny for being such helpful and enjoyable playing partners!
To answer @AlCzervik: I really enjoyed both 3 and 9 (even if both punched me in the junk). The fact that I didn’t have the correct answer doesn’t change that they both asked interesting questions.
@Renlibrarian told me he said the words “No Laying Up message board” at check in and they instantly knew what he meant. I don’t know if that’s cool or cringe. They also knew he was playing with me.
