A 3 on this hole is incredibly impressive. Kudos to you. Last time I played this hole I hit a perfect drive, decided to “safely” lay up, hit the wrong club through the fairway into the trees and made a triple I think.
Played it a few times! Two completely different 9’s style wise, but both good in their own ways.
Really easy walk, some great risk reward holes, neat that it’s JUST golf (and a halfway house) and something a LOT of different players can enjoy.
Don’t know about the membership or rates or anything like that, but it can’t be too crazy or something that you need to explain to your significant other.
Is this the course next to Good Shepherd? Driven by it so many times, @cjordan929 join up, wanna get on there!
Yessir! Sister course to Old Wayne near Carol Stream. Charles Maddox designs, both are VERY similar in feel and layout. Stonehenge has a LOT more water on it though haha
I emailed their inquiry inbox for 2021 back in September and got an invitation in the mail today. Total shock. 350 for the membership and then a saturday morning round is 32 bucks walking/ 18 bucks during the week. I am thinking i may shift down to a “social membership” to keep my range pass at MCC and then pay as i go at both places.
Yeahhhhh that sounds about right, which again for JUST golf is a really really nice offer.
Honestly it all depends on what you’re looking for from a club, but with those fees honestly that’s not a bad deal at all.
Not to mention I’m sure there are other people there that can get you out at other courses in the area.
If it wasn’t a 40 min ride for me, I would jump on that deal myself!
I live right down the road actually and I kind of forget it is there honestly. I’ve played it probably 20-30 times throughout the years. It’s like Black Sheep GC’s weird cousin, no clubhouse (you can get maybe a snack in there and talk to the pro), half the course is old farm land.
However Stonehenge does allow women lol.
***Owner hates slow play from what I remember, “slow players will be asked to leave” is in full effect. I always thought that was ~sick~
I really like a place that is walkable and is really just golf. My wife isnt into tennis and we never did any of the social stuff at MCC. The drawback with Stonehenge is 1) i havent played it before and 2)no practice area.
I kind of feel freed up with this arrangement as i don’t feel so married to one place and i think i could get into a rotation with my saturday game (i’m their guest at their place my guest here).
They’ve got one! There’s a HUGE practice green, and unless they stopped using the space, there’s a ~240ish long range inbetween 1 and 18. It’s not “officially” a range, but I’m pretty sure they still use that for a range (mind you last time I was there was about 9 years ago)
Posting here for visibility - for anyone that likes Mt. Prospect and plays there often, out of towners can pay $50 for a discount card that gets you $10 off every 18 hole round. Found this while paying for my season pass. Go to their site, find the “Course” tab, and then click “Season passes” to find the info. It’ll reroute you to the park district page and you’ll have to make an account and get it approved by them. Doesn’t take very long.
This hole is hysterical because if you play in a scramble there they tell you that if you cut the corner and land in the 9th(?) fairway you’ve hit O.B.
Which, btw, the best thing about Lost Marsh is absolutely the opportunity to have 46 cups of chili during the Chili Open every Fall.
Check your email for MP details. DJ Pie can’t make it so you’re in.
I saw that ground is being broken this month on the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park which reminded me, what the hell is going on with the Tiger Woods project at JP? Seems like it may have died on the vine (not sure that’s a bad thing, tbh). Those two projects were always mentioned together although I’m not sure if they were actually related in any way.
Allegedly the course will resume talks once the Obama center breaks ground. Too much politics to happen simultaneously.
Check!
Greetings fellow Illinois residents.
We’ll eventually start an event thread, but a Google Doc has begun for the Spring Rumspringa at Spring Valley. Please sign up if you’re interested.
What: Spring Rumspringa at Spring Valley
When: March 20th, March 27th or April 3rd
Where: Spring Valley Country Club in Salem Lakes, WI (5 minutes north of Antioch, 30 minutes from Libertyville for location reference)
Why: A early season WD-40 and meet-up before Match Play kicks off
Looking to get a core group together, set a date and discussion a possible competition if that is wanted. This is cross posted in the Wisconsin Rollcall as well.
Google Doc Link below:
Spring Valley is very affordable. $22 walking in the summer, I’d imagine we may be up for a small discount. Maybe we can get in 27 or 36 holes, we’ll see. Spring Valley is almost always open and gets busy when the snow melts.

My mistake, rookie move. Try again.
On days like today i really miss the accessibility of SMGC
I love Spring Valley!
The more the merrier but a heads up on dates that the March Mudness event is on March 27 at Kankakee Elks. Expecting a big crowd (80+ signed up although I’m sure there will be attrition)!
