Awesome, thanks! I’ll take you up on that when I’m back home- which may be this summer. I went to Capuchino HS but I’ve never played that course.
I agree Black Horse and Bayonet if they cut the greens tight they can be one of the toughest in the Bay/ Monterey Bay Area. I have dropped a ball on the 10 hole at Bayonet and watched it roll to the fairway lol
@3jackbirdie I saw my NCGA that they flipped the holes around back to the original layout. So hole 1 is in front of the Club House again at Poppy Hills
Yeah it took me until I was about half the way down number one fairway to realize it was number 10 in my yardage book from last year lol
@3jackbirdie I did that the first time I played, because I got into golf after college baseball and played with my dad and his buddies and the yardage book was reverse. I saw NCGA and they mentioned they flipped it back. Totally changed how I looked at everything and really check the lay out hahaha
Hello friends…Ohioan here ready for his frozen hellscape home to thaw.
I will be in San Jose this weekend for work and found out that I will have an unexpected extra day for the trip. Where would be a good place to go play that’s, say, within reasonable Uber/Lyft distance from downtown, Pasa aside? Obviously that’s #1 on the list but also the only place on the list as I’ve never been to SJ before.
Cinnabar Hills!
Anyone up for weekday golf in the East Bay?
I’m flexible and trying to take advantage of those cheaper weekday rates.
Hard to argue with what @3jackbirdie said
Yesssssir……I also have a few 2 for 1s to use for Metropolitan and a few others that are only valid during week.
Let me know when you’re going. Second half of week generally better for me.
Love it…thanks guys
depending on exactly where you’re staying, Baylands might be as good of an option as Cinnabar
We’re downtown
baylands actually closer! 21 mins vs 24. both great courses, both mildly inconvenient to downtown san jose. a couple private options closer to you, but as far as public stuff really close it’s a little sparse. rush hour traffic from downtown san jose down to cinnabar would be prohibitive during the week though
Super helpful… thanks
FWIW your username is frigging GREAT
I’m entirely too proud of it
I agree that Baylands and Cinnabar are your best bets unless you feel like playing Pasa (which isn’t that much farther and is in a totally different league).
To be clear, from downtown SJ to Cinnabar is against the morning rush hour traffic, so if you’re heading there anytime before mid-afternoon, it’ll be fine. From your hotel to Baylands is with the morning rush hour so you might want to wait that out before venturing up. Obviously the afternoon rush hour flows the other way – counter traffic from Cinnabar to hotel, and with traffic from Baylands to hotel.
They’re totally different courses, with Cinnabar very much in the hills and Baylands on the flats by the bay. As long as it’s dry, I think both are fun. When it’s wet, some of the Cinnabar holes can get pretty muddy. One reason to choose Baylands is that it’s a lot harder to lose a ball there. Cinnabar isn’t clausterphobic by any stretch, but it is less forgiving.
Enjoy your round!
Again… incredibly helpful. An added, unexpected wrinkle is needing to rent a set of clubs now. So the fun and adventure continues!
