Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

Anyone interested in playing early Saturday AM at Monarch Bay? I have a 7:48 AM tee time.

EDIT: Ended up canceling this, have to fly out tomorrow afternoon and doc thrashed me this afternoon so I’m beat.

Hey everyone,

The wife and I (with our six year old) are coming over from Fresno to Sunnyvale for a Doctor’s appointment. Anyone want to play some golf or have some suggestions for where to play?

If it’s not too far I’d suggest Cinnabar Hills. Not an easy walk but a great course with three nines. San Jose, not Sunnyvale, but worth the drive.

Sorry yea we will be there Monday through Thursday.

The appointment is in Sunnyvale but we are willing to drive.

What drive time and what price point?

No price point. Probably hour or two. Prefer to go south than north.

Close and reasonably priced:
Baylands
Corica
Cinnabar

Further:
Pasatiempo
Poppy Hills
Black Horse/Bayonet

If Pasatiempo is a goal or even a thought… keep golf now.com on your radar for hot deal… after midnight the price drops the closer you get to the day of…

Thanks for the tip. Booked Pasatiempo for Tuesday for 200 bucks.

Oh snap, that’s awesome.

Still got a few spots open for the Chunks at the Chunk next month.

Hey all, have 2 additional spots available this Saturday 2/19 at 9:10 at Hiddenbrooke if anyone is interested. This will be my match in the elimination bracket, so maybe if there’s anyone else looking for a venue to play their match?

I’ll give priority to anyone who needs to get their match in, but I’m still looking for a Saturday AM tee time for this weekend so I’d be down to jump in on that.

I’m with @greebs - I’d play just about anywhere other than presidio :joy:. The point has been debated at length but there’s a lot of people that like it and many of us that loathe it.

I personally think its way over priced and would rather trek 40 mins to Corica S ($89-90 ish),45 mins to Baylands (same ish) or pony up for HMB ocean than waste my time hitting mud balls off of side hills.

Presidio is a pretty walk. With my dog.

i see your point 100% i have had fun rounds at presidio, but maybe its time to check out Baylands. Corica is awesome too, just trying to keep it more coastal.

Dan and I played Metropolitan for $40 yesterday afternoon. While not in amazing shape the fairways are Firm ish and fast ish w interesting. run outs. And the greens are in very good condition. Pace of play can be an issue in the am and it’s usually windy in the pm. But I like it.

Good bit of ground under repair at Metro now too, they’ve got new sod on a lot of closed tee boxes and fairways so probably will be in really good shape by Spring. Very challenging course when the wind is whipping like it was yesterday.

Corica Park, Metro and Monarch Bay would my recs on the East Bay side. All (relatively) affordable , though early weekend tee times can be tough at all of them.
