Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

Troon taking it over is cool though. Enjoyed the few courses of theirs I’ve had the chance to play

Glad I’m not the only one who burned some vacation hoping to golf and now watching the weather forecast with disappointment.

Guess we can’t really take rain for granted here though.

Guys, waterproof rain jackets and wet weather golf gloves exist.

Sadly, moving here from NY has made me a fair weather golfer. See you all in the new yr! :joy:

Tomorrow is supposed to be rain-free, hoping to get out tomorrow morning.

Listen, for sure. I’m still gonna play but I’m gonna complain about the timing haha. 340 days of sun a year and these 2 weeks have to be when the rain comes. If anything pace of play should be good….played very fast in the rain on Tuesday afternoon

How was Baylands, given all the rain lately?

Played with @giles thursday afternoon, the place was a puddle. Greens were still good, but the rest of the place was quite wet. Playing again Sunday though

Pasatiempo Golf Club - Yesterday. It was a little wet… but still super fun.

I played with a few members yesterday at Pasatiempo. They were saying the course is considering closing for a year to redo all the greens. FYI…

That is NOT the Christmas spirit I came here looking for… hope that isn’t true

Needs to be done though, the soil under those greens is not in good shape according to my buddy who interned with the maintenance staff there this year

Damn. I mean the odds were I’d only get a chance to play it once but I feel bad for the members. Wonder where they’ll get reciprocity to play during that…

It’s about setting the course up to be great going forward - taking the long view with the typical conflict between older and younger members.

Yeah it’s a truly special place and anything to make it even better for the long haul is good. No doubt about that.

Wow. I saw no issue with them in mid September.

I don’t think it’s a now issue but a future issue.

And September/October is when they can be really in great shape! Main challenge as I understand is that the substructure does not drain well (super’s summary that was shared about a year ago). About a tenth of rates expected of a modern green. This makes it harder to maintain great playability throughout the year and weather fluctuations.
