Roll Call: Atlanta - Campout 3/15 - Stankonia 6/7

@PurpATL How are we looking on the discord?

Apologies if I missed it, Mistletoe Masters - happening this year?

No. We lost gatorZ who was the big hype man. And between a few people, I just had a baby and some of the other coordinators were tied up in things it just didn’t come together.

Definitely next year!

Got a week off in between jobs and was going to head down to the fields on Wednesday with @apmiller. Anybody else have interest in joining?

Sick! Have we made any progress on a logo? I assume we went with The Peachtree Collective?

Yes on Peachtree Collective

Hey there ATL - weekend sicko here looking to #getinvolved. Starting a new job in the New Year so looking to bundle up and get out there between now and 1/10 as much as possible. I’ll be traveling around the holiday dates but otherwise pretty available. I live in Edgewood and typically overpay Sundays at BJGC where we just wrapped up our 2021 Par Challenge. Hit me up!

Howdy my fellow ATL friends,

I’ll be in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl from late Wednesday (29th) night through Friday late afternoon (31st). Unfortunately it is not much time, but anyone have recommendations for bars or food I’d be much obliged. Especially looking for a good brunch spot for the 31st.

I’m staying downtown but willing to grab an Uber somewhere if it’s worth it.

Good brunch spots near-ish downtown:

(these three are all within a minute or two of each other on Memorial)

  • Home Grown for heavy southern breakfast food - the comfy chicken biscuit is one of the best dishes in Atlanta but you won’t need to eat again until dinner
  • Muchacho - solid tacos, bowls, etc plus coffee/cocktails with a ton of outdoor seating
  • Little Tart Bakeshop - if you just need some baked goods or light breakfast sandwich type stuff

Cypress Street Pint and Plate in Midtown also has good traditional brunch stuff

Getting off work early tomorrow and playing bobby Jones at 2:48. Only booked for myself so come join if you’re up for it.

Also off on the 23rd. Anyone in town looking to play? Maybe Browns Mill?

Great suggestions. I would be at Home Grown if it were me.

If the weather is good I would also recommend Ladybird on the belt line. Good brunch food and drink options.

Home Grown looks exactly like what I was looking for. Thanks a ton.

Any thoughts on Pizza? Doing some research and Antico keeps popping up. My wife has to work Thursday morning so I have some time to kill. Was thinking of renting a bike and biking over to Midtown HS where MSU’s marching band (I was a band nerd in college) is practicing in the morning then biking over to Antico/GT campus before heading back downtown.

That’s a doable plan and Antico is the real deal. I’d give a slight edge to Ammazza. Might be a little closer depending on where downtown you are. Similar style and both are excellent.

Antico is probably the best option for authentic Neapolitan style pizza. Ammazza is also a similar style, but they use local ingredients instead of Italian - you can’t go wrong with either if you want something traditional. You can also buy by the slice at Fellini’s - it’s a local small chain that has decent NY style.

FYI, biking in Atlanta is a mixed bag. I commuted by bike from the east side of town to Midtown for a year or two, so it can certainly be done, but going from downtown to Tech/Midtown might put you in some hairy spots.

Absolutely the attitude for the weekend. Atlanta has some amazing food. Let us know if you need any other recommendations. Being Downtown, Inman Park, Midtown, and West Midtown all have a variety of good food.

I could probably do Thursday. Browns mill is good with me.

Booked us for 10:30. Still two spots available on golf now if anyone else is interested.

It’s newer and flies under the radar but I think the best Pizza in the city now is Pizza Jeans at ponce city market. It is very thin and cools quick so I would not recommend it togo, it has to be eaten as soon as it comes out of oven
