Ahh yes yes…ha
Heading to Gulf Shores area for my bachelor party in late March early April. Going to make the drive over to Perdido Bay one morning. Looking for one more place to play in the area. Golf group ranges from a 5 handicap to guys who play 3-4 times a year and will be there to play a scramble / drink beer.
Any recs from the locals or people who have visited before? Thanks!
Craft Farms is nice
Personally I loved Gulf Shores Golf Club- its been 3 years since I played there but really enjoyed it
I assume you already have Kiva Dunes and Peninsula on your list, right?
Don’t have anything on the list besides Perdido. Three avid golfer and four non, just trying to find a good place for the seven of us. I will look into those courses!
I also forget to mention I’ve heard good things about Lost Key (which is closer to Perdido), but I’ve never played there.
Kiva is my favorite in the area. Definitely check on it.
May be passing through Birmingham in a few weeks. Highland Park looked kind of interesting. Is it worth stopping to play?
Highlands a fun little trac. Can play it quick. Pretty good views. Good greens. Depending on time and day could be busy. They get a lot of play there in Birmingham because it’s easy to play fast. They will go cart path only a lot just to cut down in fairway wear and tear. Just call ahead and see what they have going on. You will enjoy it.
Side not. Literally found a body in the pond on 10 before.
New to Birmingham (mostly new) and new to the game of golf. Played baseball so that hasn’t translated very well into my game. High handicap looking for some guys to connect with in the area that doesn’t mind my scorecard.
Anybody want to play Highland Park this weekend?
Alright similar to Derek with the Bachelor Party. I’m heading to Gulf Shores for vacation for the first time. Going to be able to get only 1 round in. Where should I go? Seems like Craft Farms, Kiva Dunes and Peninsula are getting the most love. But if you had to pick 1 course to play - which is it?
Just recently joined The Nest and am located in Birmingham. If anyone ever wants to play, let me know.
Want to play Saturday? Supposed to be around 60 degrees and partly cloudy so should be a decent weather day
Wish I could, but I have a wedding. Should be able to play over the next few weeks, especially since it’s starting to warm up.
Where are you thinking about playing? Played Highland last weekend so want to try somewhere else.
The hospitality at Peninsula is second to none. My son and I tried to play 18 back in 2017 while girls shopped. We got pressed from time and we stopped at the turn and told the gentleman at the clubhouse had to go… He said we are going to finish the round… taken back I said " I don’t need a raincheck or anything we just have to go pick up the ladies…He said you boys are getting your 18 holes in !! He said leave your clubs on the cart and go enjoy the rest of the day and we will see you back here in the morning. Still a little unsure I said OK?! So the next morning we get there and there is a Brand New Loaded out ClubCar with rims, bucket seats , radio etc. Both my son and I’s clubs had been cleaned as good as new. I’m not joking there might have been beers and waters in the cooler on the cart!!! Mommy was dropping us off this time and she said " IS THAT YOUR GOLF CLUBS ON THAT CART!!" We couldn’t believe it! Also my little guy would kill me if I didn’t mention the barrels of apples on the tee boxes…I dont know if he hit a single shot that morning cause he was having to much fun with the cart.
Played Timberline yesterday. It is still coming out of the winter in terms of conditions but the greens were solid. For a course that measures 6700 from the tips it has enough bit to keep anyone honest.
I am a Birmingham native, but always looking to add guys to our golf group. One of my main golf
buddies lives in HVille so we play Hampton Cove a lot. Terri Pines of a fun course right in the middle as well.
The rumors are true: Coore and Crenshaw are already working on a golf course on Lake Martin in Alex City
This article has a lot more info
Going to be visiting some family in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area this coming weekend.
Would love to get a round in Saturday (4/17) if anyone is available and interested
