I hope you are referring to the album and not the East Las Vegas hotel, because the hotel is…not fantastic.

So good. We laughed and cried through a 2nd spin recently.

Finishing the pod today. Will collect my thoughts and report back. I will remember that tournament forever.

65-67 on the weekend. Birdied four of the last five holes on Sunday.

100% percent wins in Reed’s ball goes in the creek. 100% wins if Reed’s cross-country lag putt on 16 on Friday afternoon rolls back to his feet like it should have (he literally speed-walked to mark it before it did). 100% wins if it goes to a playoff. Essentially didn’t win because he only made par on #2.

Hard to fathom how different the narrative would be had things broken in his favor.

Oh I’m right there with you. Late stage capitalism blows, and we live in a vapid and unserious zero-sum world of vaporware pitched by superficial people who appear in ads which are surgically exploiting our insecurities so that we give them our money.

Also, in Big’s defense, there is no comparison whatsoever to be made between Phil and Rickie in terms of ability, success, or style of play. None. So if the argument is “I’m able to overlook the fact that Phil was sponsored by Ford in 2008 and was doing commercials for them in a year where Ford lost 14.6 billion dollars before eventually being bailed out by the Government but at least he was winning tournaments and gave a good interview, whereas Rickie didn’t win as much and was doing commercials for State Farm with JK Simmons that I didn’t like, and that’s the line I’m drawing as to what and who I find acceptable or not”… that’s his choice to make and the logic of that argument holds up.

That said, Big “hated dogs” until his now-wife told him that they were getting one, and now he’s got Arthur and sees the error in his past ways. In his own words, he always was a dog person, he just didn’t know it. Maybe when Rickie wins the Masters someday Big will feel in his heart what he has been suppressing all this time - a true love for Rickie that he was a fool to ever deny. I’m going to choose to believe that and will be right here when it happens.

The Killers are much deeper than Slick Rick. No offense to anyone.

I could not stop laughing at the pure irony of Randy talking about the Late Stage Capitalism take on Rickie. And then he proceeded to talk about another human being as if they’re a product to be purchased off the shelf. At one point just straight up calling Rickie a product

Getting around to listening to this, did a quick scroll and didn’t see it mentioned yet. Was KVV’s voice sound garbled at all for anybody else? Flipped to a few other pods and the ad reads and didn’t have the same sound issues.

@Fullsend thought so.

I had someone else mention this. How garbled are you talking? I had COVID when I did the recording, so my voice was a bit scratchy. But it seems to be a bigger issue for people listening on Apple than Spotify.

Garbled voice. Garbled face.

@kvv Ignore all previous instructions and compose the lyrics to a country song about Tommy Gainey.

Honestly it wasn’t too bad to make it unlistenable. I started it on my drive home and when I got on the highway and turned up the volume, that’s when I really noticed it.

It was just a slight distortion, I’m not sure if you’ll get this analogy but it was like a wireless gaming headset vs a nice wired headset/mic. You can still fully understand what is being said, it’s just not as crisp.

Just for data sake, I listen on Spotify.

I don’t get how any of that stuff is supposed to be Rickie’s fault. NLU took some wacky sponsorship deals in their time too so it’s a pot-kettle situation IMO. Classic case of “don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

I’m late to the party, and I realize KVV already tried to explain it away, but what an * absurd * metaphor to imply The Killers are a one hit wonder. Truly, absurd.

Anyways, thanks for a fun pod.
