I don’t know if you’re from Richmond, but I had The Highlands commercial jingle come from somewhere deep in my brain just now. Fun course though.
Thank you. I haven’t played any of the courses in the area, but i’m looking forward to getting up there. I think I’ve seen Dogwood Trace in passing from the train but that’s about the extent of my course knowledge for the trip.
The jingle worked on me…I’ve lived in 2 houses in the neighborhood
So you did, indeed, imagine yourself at home
I did and it helped that my sister is already in the neighborhood.
@baberuth are you still maybe coming?
Make(or cancel existing) plans for the weekend of July 20,2024. The 3BR 4.0 is on the books for a triumphant return to Pete Dye’s River Course at Virginia Tech!
Will money be raised for an awesome charity? YES!!!
Will the New River suck up a quicksleeve of balls? YES!!!
Will I shoot a million? Most certainly yes!
Will the vibes, hang, and meals be amazing? YES!
For those in the know, the event within the event (the pre3BR) will be held that Friday at Ivy Hill with a culminating BBQ feast at Beale’s. To drink the beer with a bear at its place of origin should be enough to make you want to stop what you are doing now and head out to Blacksburg in and of itself!
Truth be told, this is the weekend that I look forward to the most every year. Because of this event, I have connected to some truly amazing people who I get to hang with each year. To experience the 3BR is to see how this place manifests itself into something greater than a forum. I hope you experience it this year.
Tough choices.
Check out this tee time for Royal New Kent Golf Club on Thursday, Feb 1 at 9:50 AM
Anyone want to joint me on Thursday at RNK?
Hey all, first time poster, new to group and to golf. I got into golf, and my husband is a regular in this group. Anyone want to guess who?
Played a few rounds so far, more to come once the weather turns!
Welcome aboard! We all know the legend that is @SammyShaf.
Guilty as charged! Although I’m not allowed to call him Sammy.
He’s taken me out to Queensfield for a couple rounds, and I have been practicing at Hanover Sports Park, when its warm enough.
Anyhoos, glad to be here!
Random Q here. My gf is doing a 6 day hike near Bedford, VA next week and I’m coming down as “trail support” / looking for any potentially open golf courses remotely close to that area.
Quick Google search found a couple courses that aren’t yet open. Will I have any luck March 2-8 or no?
If you are able to drive to lynchburg area, there are decent publics ivy hill and london downs. From my time living over that way, Poplar grove is still one of my VA favorites but that is a hike to amherst from bedford. It depends how far/long you can be from trail.
Also RIP Vista Links in Buena Vista. Such great bones…fun track.
@country35 any other thoughts here?
So my office is in Montvale off US 460 bout 15 from Bedford. I can see the parkway from where I hunt and my fire dept runs rescue on the tail.
I played yesterday afternoon. As long as its above 40 or so for the day we open. I am a member at Ashley Plantation/Ivy Hill about 30 either direction form Bedford.
Sweet thanks! I’ll have some downtime, I’ll be working for most of it but I’m gonna play hooky and get out for a round or two.
agree on the course. IDK when the last time you played out there was, but it went from $65 in 2018 to like $140 now.
If you need someone to play with, I can typically slide out in the afternoons fairly easy if I have a 24/48 heads up
