Refuge Secret Santa - 2024: See you in November!

That’s a given.

You’ll note that I very intentionally used the word “facilitate”
My wife arranged for the traveling petting zoo (which overstates what it actually was - a gal showed up in a Nissan Murano with a couple of ducks, a chick, a piglet, a big fat rabbit, a guinea pig, a chinchilla, and maybe some other assorted critters) and was told that we needed a shady place in the back yard and that’s it. Zero issues there.
2 days prior, we are told that this traveling varmint menagerie does not like taking their animals out in weather cooler than 50 degrees and because of that, our reservation was in jeopardy unless there was an indoor option.
And so as garage caretaker, executing on petting zoo Plan B became my problem. Fortunately our garage is detached and we don’t really park the cars in there but I did have to clear out a 12’x12’ space which was a bit of a challenge amongst all the bikes and trikes and what have you; funnily enough, in the course of moving stuff around, I uncovered a sizeable mouse’s nest, who probably didn’t appreciate the irony in his being evicted to make room for several other rodents to preen about in comfort for a few hours.
In the end, in spite of my fear that the propane patio heater that I had running in the garage might cause an incident, everything came off well and the kids had fun. Well, most kids had fun - the birthday boy was a little freaked out by the animals but the older kids really seemed to enjoy it:

And my wife got to hang out with this little piglet for a while, which may have been what she was after all along:

And the cake, which was sick (the 3yo is big into diggers, dump trucks, etc):

It’s not even December yet! If anyone out there is already impatient, I am starting a change.org petition to ban you from the Nest.

Dont shun our gift receiving/giving love language. :joy:

Believe part 2 came. Glad I checked the mail before running to hit some balls today. I shall wear it all winter. Thanks again!!

My gift shipped today. After stalking my SS post history, I took a chance on an offhand, random post they made and based my gift around that. I may be really dumb.

This is how I did it last year and this year. Only way to do it.

Managed to get all my stuff together and ship it out! Estimated delivery of 12/4 to my recipient. Like a lot of people here, the wife isn’t too happy with how proactive I was with this compared to gifts for her and family.

I haven’t bought a gift yet for anyone other than my SS.

Hoping the recipient likes their gift. I felt like I kind of rushed it; after reading through some of the choke-point and logistics issues folks were having last year I wanted to make sure I got this out early. Feels a little too early since it’s arriving before December starts, but it is what it is.

Loving the energy of gifting early. But also holding my breath as I have only half my gift ready to ship and waiting on another piece. :flushed:

Just did my ordering, 3 items from 2 states and 2 countries, all coming to my house first. Clock is officially ticking, what could possibly go wrong?

Holy cow, thank you so much whoever sent these amazing gifts. I’m making my first trip to Pinehurst this spring and will make sure to clip that towel to my bag to make sure I get immediately pressed by my playing partners.

The putter cover is amazing and will also be a gamer. Thank you so much! I will happily match that generous first tee donation as well.

Charlotte loved them all.
