Don’t run on the street. It drives me crazy when I see people running on the street. The odds of you getting hit by a car are probably higher than the odds of getting COVID by passing someone while running. All it takes is one distracted driver, and you’re dead.

If you’re worried about the impact from the sidewalk, then I would suggest trail running or finding a track at a school before you run in the street.

I’m for sure guilty of this because of how much smoother the road is. That said you need to be aware and know your area. There are time’s I’ll hop onto the sidewalk for safety but I’m sure it isn’t as often as I should be.

If you’re running on the road make sure you’re running on the left side (against traffic). Also, assume the driver doesn’t see you when you see a car coming and be ready to jump on the shoulder to avoid them.

Pro tip, if you’re at an intersection and a car is turn right (either side of the road) the driver is looking away from you to see if it’s safe for them to turn. I wait until I get eye contact with the driver before I go. No eye contact and I just wait for them to turn.

Stay safe and enjoy it! I picked up running as a cheap way to lose weight out of college. Fast forward a decade and I logged 2,500 miles last year (humble brag but I pretty proud of it!)

Just did my first run in a while and used a guide my sister in law shared with me for when she was training for a half marathon. It was a good way to shake off some (a lot of) rust.
Jog 6 minutes, walk 1 min, jog 5 minutes, walk 1 min, etc…
Easy way to get in 2-3 miles at a non-killer pace in <30 minutes.

A buddy laid down the challenge of 100 burpees a day for the month of March. If I can succeed in both I imagine I’ll see grand results

Soooo, if I walk when I play that’s good for 7-8 miles, right?

Jog the course next time you coward

Also what course is a 7-8 mile walk? That’s 3 miles walking between holes

Gonna set out a blanket statement that golf miles don’t count unless you’re playing Speed Golf and literally running between shots. Nice try, though haha

Clearly someone hasn’t had to to walk back and forth across a green 4 times. Those steps add up quickly. #LCP

Sadly I’m an 8. Don’t get LCP or HCP just a man in the middle

Fine…so much for poetic license.

  1. I recalled that stat from somewhere I read before. Didn’t feel the urge, nor the necessity, to look it up. I didn’t think we were so literal.

  2. You obviously haven’t played Carolina Lakes in Fort Mill, SC…back me up @anon29849602, @JamesHCard, and @bmasters

  3. I’m not good at golf. I am a 20 cap with a big 2-way miss.

Can confirm @jsteve15 it is also a terrible golf course that should be nuked. One of the courses at my club is about a 7.5m walk according to Strava, for what it’s worth.

North or South?

That was South, but when I look at my last couple North rounds it’s not too far off that. Anywhere from 7.3-7.5m. Maybe my Garmin is off but I’ve no reason to doubt it

Man I come across like a right bellend. It’s distinctly not C-Suite, especially compared to the other clubs around town.

I jogged (or “yogged” as your people call it) along the path of holes 11-13 on the North yesterday while my daughter was at golf practice. Please don’t tell the authorities as its strictly forbidden according to the posed notices.

A bit hilly, and the paths are tilted at almost 45 degree, huh?

I’ll vouch for that…its like the Waffle House of Country Clubs.

***EDIT: With that being said, I am dying to join. With 2 18 hole full length courses its an absolute steal.
