Finished “Trust Exercise” and excited for Wednesday.
Prepping for some “thicc” reads upcoming.
A reread of both “Kavalier” and “Matterhorn”. Not always into the rereads but pumped for discussion of “Kavalier” and excited about how much “Matterhorn” is popping up everywhere via @MerchCzar love and TS Oregon cameo! Also a Pulitzer winning short story collection that has collected dust for a while.
First one for me, almost done with it. Got about 20 pages left. Definitely would love to get in on this but have golf league and sometimes pool league on Wednesdays.
I recognize that this isn’t a particularly helpful answer (sorry!), but I’m okay with either option, just so long as we keep the meeting on either a Monday or Wednesday. If we keep it tonight, I may be a couple of minutes late if my remote class runs over.
I am fine with staying with tonight or moving. Would love to have as many people as possible participate, but would also like to take my mind away from the obvious (selfishly).
I’m happy either way - next Wednesday is great because I’m taking Thursday off but today I’m good to go too (although haven’t dug up discussion questions yet)
Also can someone explain the election results to me? This feels like a smart reasonable place to ask
Basically in a nutshell, it is still too early to call. Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan will likely decide it. It is likely that all that Biden would have to do is take 2/3 of those states to win. He is up in Wisconsin and Michigan with a lot of mail in ballots still to come in (from largely democratic areas). Georgia is much closer than originally thought, and if Biden pulls it out this is effectively over. 538 has Biden with a 90 percent chance of winning, but this is still very close.
@onmeltedwings has it down. The only other potentially complicating factor would be a Trump lawsuit challenging the validity of absentee ballot counting in Pennsylvania. That could trigger Bush v Gore redux, which would just suck (but would probably make my Constitutional Law class Thursday night a little more interesting). That lawsuit probably wouldn’t matter if Biden can win in the other states, but Trump still might file.
