by the way, having Sept 22 as the date we are discussing The Makioka Sisters in the thread title gave me a mild heart palpitation. I think we’re thinking late October or even early November?

Started this last night - I like the tone already. I will say there are at least three characters with names I am not familiar with, and they all start with T. It’s going to be difficult until I get comfortable with the names to ensure I’m not confusing one character with another.

How are people doing with this one? It’s definitely unlike any book we’ve read. I’m about 20% through it and have mixed feelings thus far, but I’m already looking forward to the discussion
