I finally got it going with -5 on the back 9. I just can’t keep my swing on plane - full shots it really only impacts me maybe 3-4 times per round, but that negates 3-4 changes for birdies. On putts it is almost a guarantee I will be off plane which makes green reading almost worthless. Just can’t figure out how to keep that damn stick straight. Back 9 I started bringing it back slower which seemed to help a bit.
I think Medium and high have the biggest windows. Medium can be anywhere from 3-15 and high is around 8-20. I think low is 0-8 and very high is 15-25 range.
I think all the prep I’ve been doing for the TGCT events on those settings have helped me dial in the swing path. It still gets a little loosey goosey when I don’t think about it, but I’ve locked it in pretty well on putting. Only problem now is going back to these setting from TGCT, I tend to get a little sloppy because it feels easy at first, until I screw something up. My struggles now, which were really magnified at Mid Pines, are the 50-90 yard shots, especially with elevation change and wind being a factor. Have not dialed those in yet.
Without the swing assist, I’ve been finding it easier to get the meter right, but it’s almost like it’s easier to nail it on 75% swings than on 95% swings. The latter is too close to full, and I can’t stop it in time.
I’ve had event where I’ve played like 10 practice rounds in the actual conditions, fired up the society event, and said to myself “I have never seen this wind before”. It’s nuts. Part of it sis that a North wind can be anywhere from NE to NW. That’s a big difference! It’s the difference between a straight downwind and straight side wind. Let alone the difference in strength of the wind.
Yeah I feel the same on 75% to 95% shots. Honestly I feel like I have really figured out pitching in the game and can leave it inside 10ft almost every time. Problem is I can’t even make a dead straight putt right now because I am slightly off-line always.
In my rounds at Mid Pines I lipped out more putts than all of last season combined. Makes me feel like I am reading greens correctly but being slightly off-plane means it will barely miss.
The best is when the wind shifts 90* your back swing. @MrCutHook can attest to seeing it happen to me in a few matches where the wind went from being in and across to straight downwind as I was hitting the ball.
That happened to me on 10 at Winged Foot. Didn’t even know there was OB long, found out quickly thanks to the wind shift.
Did you not watch the US Open. That’s a guys yard, think of his beloved window!
I’ve never seen the wind change mid swing. Shot to shot, maybe, but never mid swing. It may have happened and I just didn’t notice it.
It definitely swirls around a bit, I’ve definitely checked it, made adjustments and checked again and it was different. I remember the first year EA added Augusta to the TW games. When you got to 12 the wind would just do a 360 constantly
Played a practice round to warm up and was -10 through 9…Hop into round 1 and I’m -2 through 10 after finding OB to the right of 4 (twice) for an early quad!
@chunKerr presented as Thanos in a previous meme, yet referring to himself here as Obi Wan Kenobi is a peak heel move.
My only irl visit to Mid Pines was extremely pleasant last year; however, I somehow hate the course right now after playing this build.
Bump. Surely Mercedes needs to be sanctioned?
Live golf, first of the new season. I’ve had a few practice rounds and haven’t got close to any of @Juice ’s scores. Maybe things will be different in McLaren colours
Proceeds to go -6 thru 6 lmao
I’m embarrassed to say that everytime chonKerr posts his twitch, it’s appointment viewing for me. I have it going while I’m doing bath time now.
