Yeah the warning sirens should be going full blast at Tour HQ right now.

+1 in the final round from a LPCP player?

+16 for the event? He’d be one off the lead in Strapped B and T4 in Strapped.

I realize I suck tremendously, but in my opinion the back tees take all of the fun out of the course. I couldn’t figure out driving angles or how to avoid bunkers off the tee, and you can’t even reach some of the classic shortcuts like the bridge or the rock or the driving angles through the woods. There were a couple of holes where laying up off the tee was almost certain to mean a sand trap or rough, and then it was a struggle to just make it across the water or out of bounds area to the next fairway. Even playing for bogey became tough, and just turned into a grind.

The course being tough is fun, and this one is a classic. But man, R2 and R3 were brutal. Would love to hear how many practice rounds some of the guis under par played to shoot that well. Can’t wait for my Rickie-like fall in the rankings.

20+ practice rounds with my Switch self-destructing on the 7th hole every time…

I managed to avoid the lure of the Bridge on 11 the first two rounds…round 3 I couldn’t resist. Went full Tin Cup and finally got it just as I hit the stroke limit.

Worth it.

You think you’ve got what it takes to play for @mctrees02?

Does it involve playing that course more than 4 times? If so…

I think you’re confusing me with @wseitz26. He is the master of the practice round.

Practice rounds allow me to get comfortable going really low on a course so that I can determine precisely how badly I’ve choked in the official tournament rounds.

That’s why I stopped doing practice rounds. The one exception this season was Predator to figure out where the hell to actually hit the ball on some holes. Also if I’m playing a course again after several rounds I tend to start playing too fast and not taking my time to read things properly, since I either get bored or I assume I know every shot.

I think they’re valuable for learning things like where you can’t miss. Some holes have spots that are just death. Better to learn that in a practice round. I’ll also play the whole event a couple times in the right conditions to get an idea of what I’m capable of shooting. If I’m shooting like -25 for an event and someone posts a -43, I know going into the event that I have no chance to win, so I can take it less seriously.

Yeah I can definitely see the benefit of a couple sighting rounds to get the lay of the land, figure out if I can carry particular hazards, etc. I don’t know if it’s some form of ADD or what but I just get bored and start rushing to get done if I play the same course too many times in close succession, same reason I only play one round per day in each society/tournament I’m in. Single player career mode is different and sometimes I power through events there, but at least for the online competition that’s my process.

So as a potential qualifier…should I wait? Seems like a bloodbath, maybe take a week or two to practice? Trying to get involved here

I’d wait and play Royal Melbourne as your qualifier so you’re good to go in Season 10.

Hear me out, qualify this event so you get your worst event out of the way and your scores will only improve in the future.
