This is doing some mixing of nerd-topics but I’ve gotten the most done on course building when I have a glass of booze, the 2k23 Course Designer on one screen, and the video pod of Critical Role on the other screen. 3 hours just disappears.

PS folks, I think I screwed up round three of this week’s event. Should be black tees throughout, and I think the third round for PS is on white tees. I don’t know how this happened because I swear I double check everything, but I’m in the middle of round three and the yardages seem off. In round two, I couldn’t quite reach the nearly drivable sixth, and in round 4, driver is setting me up to hit the back of the green. It’s not the only hole that has felt weird, and checking the scorecard, it looks like the white tee is indicated. Super sorry about this, but PS players should maybe replay round 3 from the black tees. If anyone has the ability to check that would be great too, but given that I’m mid-round, I can’t check the settings other than looking at the scorecard.
It’s all good, can play rounds on your own if needed!
@Jeff_M, please find us a Old Barnwell port to this game. I wanna play hole 16… (edit: Top Oak CC ?) (re edit: not trying to be snarky, just in awe. Great job out there.)

Despite the swing abandoning me on like the 14th hole, Old Barnwell immediately shot up to my favorite course I have ever played, it was a treat. I know there is one named that in the game but it’s really not good, I’ll have to investigate to see what’s in the works. Surely it’s only a matter of time before someone is able to put a proper version in the game.

That place kicked me in the d repeatedly all day and I still walked away thinking it was by some margin the best course I’d ever played. Not a bad hole out there

I’ve done enough mental reps through hole fly over videos of OB that I’m confident I’ll bring it to its knees with a smooth 120 whenever I get a crack at it

SEASON 24 - WEEK 8 UPDATE - Pinehurst #11
Some day this course might exist for real, but for now we can enjoy it in digital form and for a lot less money. Hopefully it was enjoyable as a fairly realistic course.
Individual flight winners:
- Young Hitters: @BlakeG copy/paste. At least the entire field except me kept it within 10 shots.
- C-Suite: @bert found something for sure, and posted a score that would have secured a podium in YH, and gets a well deserved promo.
- Strapped: @woodfinx apparently took offense to not winning last week, so went ahead and won again. 3 wins in 4 weeks secures another promo here!
- LPCP: @rookie177 goes back to back and also gets a well deserved promo up

We are staying in the US Southeast, and moving to Caledonia. The TURR might think they have the best with the Myrtle Beach Classic, but we’ll see what our crew and Mike Strantz have to say about it.

Obligatory thank you for what you do online but Caledonia was a blast, tough greens made you think. I hit poor shots and can’t putt but damn I’m enjoying it.

The greens are like that in real life too, lots of tricky slopes that are difficult to guess right! Sadly the game didn’t allow for heckles to be shouted from the deck on the back of the clubhouse, but it’s entertaining to watch groups come in over the water.

I found it extremely similar to other Stranz courses, TR/Tot Hill just more tame.

Really poo pooed my final round after getting real hot round 2. Speculation around the clubhouse bar is that dflock24 was looking ahead to 2k25 and lost control of the tournament at hand

What happened to tournaments ending at 8pm ET on Sundays? Just went to play on PS at 7 and it’s already closed.
We’re just doing our best as platform admins! Feel free to play the rounds on your own with the settings.
Standard time vs daylight saving time.
I use the time settings on the sheet, but should probably just start extending an extra day. I was going to play my third round today, but probably can’t remember what I shot in the first two rounds, so I won’t have anything to post this week.

Sorry about that, I think it is daylight/standard time that made the difference so they will close at 7pm now. I still like to have Monday built in as a maintenance day so I can ensure all scores are submitted before I finalize and move on to the next event. Most of the time I will not be finalizing stuff until Monday afternoon so you still have time to play individually and post your scores if needed.

A treat to play a Mike Strantz classic. Maybe not as wacky as Tobacco Road or Tot Hill, but right up there with some of the most fun places to play.

Shhedule for the week
Wrapping up the last regular season in 2K23 with The Dumpster Fire. We head down under for this iteration of the event, and while ejection is possible, the hope is that the test is tough, but fair. We’ll finish the regular season with this banger, then at least a couple days off so I can sort out points and handicaps, then The Butt Cup. Normally I do a full week off in between, but with 2K25 pending I might try to move things along a bit so we can get to Silly Szn and play some fun fantasy courses before they potentially fall to the sands of time, as they may not get ported over.
