How’d everyone do in TGC Tours qualifying? I got better every round but that first round killed me. I think this should be good for CC-A or Kinetic.
Dude I appreciate you taking the time to check it out! Once yours is fully done I might figure this streaming thing out and give it a go too. I definitely appreciate the look you took around the off-course environment, one of my goals is to go through the neighborhood houses and at least make sure they all have driveways and the roads are passable, even if I don’t have any room on the object meter for decorations or cars.
The clubhouse was my proudest achievement in 2K21 and I may look at fine tuning it even more, although I am disappointed in the lack of new assets in 2K23. It used to be an inn, hence the sprawling layout. The little house next to it you found is actually a cabin that can be rented, usually I only ever see anyone staying there during big events.
I did notice several floating trees during your tour so I will certainly be going around to address that. Currently looking at the course in the designer as you play through, I’ll have to fiddle with the faces of the bunkers although I don’t know what can be done with, might need to fine tune the positioning of spline points or something.
Edit to add, couple of those overhanging tree limbs on 4 and 14, part of the charm. I might dial back the one on 4 a bit since the asset might have changed with the port to the new game, but it’s definitely there IRL on both holes.
In was fine through two rounds, probably around CC-A or Kinetic territory, then played the third round drunk and will probably end up in CC-E territory. Which is fine. I should move up pretty quick.
I don’t really feel like the gameplay is much of an upgrade. Some things are better, like much of the short game, but bunkers really suck now, and somehow, one of the biggest flaw in the game for me, reading greens and seeing the cup with a lot of shadows, got even worse. Like I just can’t see the hole without the flag in quite often.
Bunkers are pretty tough. I’m struggling with short chips a lot more compared to last game. But for some reason I’m finding putting easier. Maybe not seeing the hole but just hitting the putt where I want seems easier.
Has this window closed? I haven’t played my rounds yet
Nope but today is the last day. I think you need to get the rounds in by 6pm CST
I’d play
Another 8.5 GB update again today supposedly includes some multiplayer fixes
I’m really glad we get detailed patch notes for updates that are over half the size of the install file for the entire game

This patch sounds like it’d make a great weapon attachment in MW2 with all those stability improvements
Are we recording rounds or just playing? No idea what is going on with game play.
Practice events are going on for the Tour, don’t need to worry about posting scores. Just there to help everyone get dialed in. Quali is scheduled for week of 11/28
TOUR INFORMATION
Welcome new and returning players, this will be the information post for our first season on 2K23. Qualifying is scheduled for the week of 11/28
First, for those unaware, @JBors unfortunately had to bow out from his role maintaining the Tour spreadsheet and the extremely proprietary formulas. We are deeply grateful for the service and I just hope I don’t burn everything to the ground in his absence (this is a real possibility).
I am at about a toddler’s level of comprehension in Excel/Google Sheets, so you will have to forgive us for not having strokes gained, etc for this season. We have a couple folks more experienced in the spreadsheet world on the admin team and we hope to be able to build it back better than ever in the future, but as this is a bit of a rebuilding season we decided to just get it off the ground with a simple format.
Naturally interest had waned a bit in the last season we had on 2K21 so we are looking to gauge interest and see how many active players we have. As such, we will be playing individual stroke play events, we hope to be able to bring back teams, playoffs, prizes, etc in subsequent seasons as long as we have a large enough player base.
This is the new spreadsheet, if you are playing please sign up by adding your Refuge handle to the Flight Status-Player List tab:
General Information:
- Events run Tuesday to Sunday, Mondays are maintenance days for flighting new players and to update championship points. See the Schedule tab in the spreadsheet for the full season schedule with dates for each event.
- Tie breakers for 1st place in each flight are (in order): Final round score, penultimate round score.
- I plan to bring back battlefield flight promotion after 3 wins, since we are sans strokes gained to measure performance for now. I realize it’s not perfect, but should at least prevent 1 player from dominating a lower flight when they would be competitive higher up. If anyone is battlefield promoted, they will carry over half points.
- A simplified playoff/post season is planned, going back to the top few players (in points) from each flight competing for their flight championship. Flight promotion/demotion will not be decided by the playoff event. (we hope to re-develop the handicapping system in the future to do a non-flighted handicapped postseason event).
Tour Player Rules:
- No chipping on greens unless your path to the hole is impeded by rough, sand, etc.
- If you do not post a score in the spreadsheet for an event, it will be deemed a DNF. Each week I will try to go through and remind folks who have blank spots, but please do your best to keep up with this so scores and points can be totaled in a timely manner.
- Use your best judgement and don’t be a scumbag.
New players joining mid-season:
- Qualifying is open through the season, sign up by adding your name to the Flight Status - Player List tab in the spreadsheet. The current event will serve as your qualifying.
- First, find the NLU society in the game on your platform. The society should be called NLU Refuge Tour. We are on PC, Xbox, and Playstation.
- Take note of the difficulty settings so you know what to expect. You can find this info on the Difficulty Settings tab in the spreadsheet
- Take note of the Rules, you can also find a tab for this in the spreadsheet
- Play the current event and post your scores as a Qualifier to the appropriate event tab.
you will be flighted depending on your finishing position in the event.
Last note here, the in game society events run on GMT, they start at midnight GMT and end at 1am GMT. Just pay attention to this and the dates on the Schedule to ensure you don’t miss playing an event.

@ChickPhilA can we please get one more thread title edit, (thank you for the continued help!) to the following:
PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #7593 - Season 17
Two things I noticed which may or may not be from the patch:
-
Cannot chip out of bunkers. May need to test more but I had a bunker shot in a round tonight and did. not have an option to chip.
-
Societies can lock down whether consumable balls may be used. This seems like a big deal.
Per a TGCT thread, both appear to be confirmed.
Very interesting, I will have to look into this more. I’m conflicted on allowing consumable golf balls in the societies, on the one hand it levels the playing field, on the other I feel that they are a large factor in building up a player. Now if I can limit to no legendary tier ones allowed, maybe that’s a way to go, but it sounds like it’s all or nothing.
If this is true I am dreading the start of the season, I still find splash shots too hard from bunkers!
Played last night and couldnt chip in the bunker…took triple bogey on two holes because I couldnt get the tempo down with the splash shot.
Quite BS if we can’t chip in bunkers now, there are plenty IRL where it’s legitimately the best play due to the elevation/proximity to the hole.
Anyone have a course they want me to check out as I start to build the season schedule? Thinking I should have some time tonight to play and probably give the Twitch stream a try as well. I think I finally have it dialed in so it’s not a laggy mess, quite a challenge with an ultrawide monitor
We’re gonna do some testing on new courses in a bit
You have your own “stream starting soon” video?! Man, you are official.
