I was afraid they’d go the microtransaction route, I’d still be ok with it if things can be unlocked/purchased with in-game currency that doesn’t take hours and hours to earn, but I think that’s a bit of a dream. What are the chances they shut off servers for 2K21 to cut access to online societies and custom courses?
As of now I still have it pre-ordered, but will definitely keep an eye on things.
From what I’ve seen, a lot of the actual gameplay and graphics looks basically copy and pasted from 2K21 which is a bit disappointing. Likely not going to buy at launch but will likely grab it when it gets discounted on Black Friday
Imagine being able to play in a tournament vs other players and being able to use equipment which lets you play the course under an easier setup than your fellow competitors. This completely ruins society play which is what keeps people coming back to your game.
And no I’m not talking about a golf ball that cuts through wind better than others because those already exist IRL.
I really doubt the game is going to be truly pay to win, like having the best equipment locked behind a paywall. I’m guessing there will some ways to accelerate getting the best stuff which also existed in 2K21. Like @Jeff_M mentioned, hopefully any in-game currency doesn’t take forever to accumulate.
I’m mostly interested in how the ball system will work and what settings societies will have access to to be able to control that kind of stuff and the analog/3-click swing
The obvious solution is to allow societies to fix standard equipment. I like the idea of customization, but the balls should be of similar quality. But my guess is that everyone is gonna have Noodles, and you’ll have to shell out some dough for Pro-Vs. What’s really going to suck is having to keep buying new balls.
I get the idea that making me buy balls makes the game more like real life, but I don’t want to do the mundane shit I don’t like doing in real life when I’m playing a video game. What’s next, are they gonna make me replace my soft spikes?
I’ve heard all sorts of things today and none of it is positive. This is from the same people had a lot of positive feedback about the new game in beta.
Worst of all, it doesn’t sound like societies have any ability to standardize settings which might totally ruin TGCT
Yeah, TGCT is dead if that’s the case, which just about the only reason I still play the game. But unless they fix the tempo issues between consoles, Doyley going back to Master was already poised to make it a PS4 exclusive concept.
Wait, what sorts of things are you hearing? I pre-ordered. I canceled the pre-order same day, but the charge went through anyways last week. Do I need to fight this charge?
On Very Fast Greens:
Friction Sleeve Ball - 5 Roll = 156 green speed
Aviator Flight Ball - 19 Roll = 167 green speed (also adds 17 yards to the driver distance)
Default Free Ball 65 Roll = 192 green speed
Range Ball 75 Roll = 199 green speed
So 4 players playing the same tournament can experience 4 different greens based on their choice of ball.
Societies are unable to lock the ball or greens down.
That’s such a stupid thing to get wrong – if they’re at all interested in their online community. Clearly not. Better society set-up, with cross-platform play, etc; it would be so easy to create a really involved fan base for online play. Now you’re just destroying it
I’m also not necessarily understanding the problem? I get it that some players will play with very fast greens and others might play with slow greens, but you still have to make the putt. People will probably play with the conditions that they are most comfortable with. What am I missing?
