Me: " I finally have an idea on how to play this game well"
also Me: “mother fucker, Im gonna break this damn xbox”
Yea the TGC courses have been solid lately because of the surge in publishes for the Rookie and World Cup contests.
Agree that this week’s challenge circuit course, Firestone Lakes, which I get to play as I’m fresh off a demotion from Kinetic, is challenging off the tee. There’s some risk reward, and some holes where you need to on the correct side of the fairway. Even in our society it would be decent because it’s really tight and heavily treed, which is one of the only ways to make a course challenging off the tee in this game. Check out Talaria as well. Another tight course with some good driving holes.
do we know conditties for Gloucester next week? seems like a super narrow place…
I’ll have that dialed up later tonight. Work is running me through the ringer this week so hopefully I’ll be able to take a break and do some play testing
Don’t know that it will hold up, but got it -23 with five to play. Terrible bogeys at 15 and 17 took me out of LITC. Got a favorable wind and closed with an eagle. Think I played the 18th six under in three rounds.
And I hate to be that guy, but I kind of thought the conditions really took away from design. There were two par 3s that we kept playing dead downwind to push up, rock hard greens that made it virtually impossible to hold, which is just kind of dumb. If you landed short, you rolled back down the hill, and if you landed on the green, it bounded over. I get that this is fake video game golf and just figure out a way to get the ball in the hole, but @Talented_Mr_Yipley deserved better, IMO.
Fair. I probably shouldn’t have dialed things up that much, I should know by now the game fucks with the settings even though a solo round may be ok with the same setup. Next one should hopefully be better
There were just a couple holes that the wind made really unfair if you tried to play them in a “normal golf manner” Both of those holes into the wind would have been another story, but playing with some north winds may have screwed up other holes. But that’s just my two cents. If Yipley’s fine with it, that’s cool.

FWIW I thought R2 settings were perfect and wish we had more of that…
I personally love the carnage settings, but you’re right on your point that they do detract from the design a bit.
One setup choice I was hoping to see in action was the use of the other tee sets. I used the tee manipulation trick in the designer to get four sets between 6,998-7,112 yards but with a lot of different angles and shot values off the tee. 5 or 6 of the holes become entirely different golf holes from the greens or whites, and I think the “very high winds” round would’ve been really interesting from the from one of those two.
Agreed. A welcome reprieve from the disgraceful scores we saw last week. This game is so much more fun when you don’t have to birdie every hole to keep up.
You mean no one likes playing/watching TPC Boston-esq courses? I am shocked.
Refuge Tour Communications - For Immediate Release
Quick announcement here, we have determined that for next season the difficulty settings will be changing to Pro difficulty, but with swing timing turned back on. Flights will be decided by strokes gained stats so everything should be relatively tight. There will also be re-shuffles (again, based on strokes gained) to keep everyone in the appropriate flight. Just wanted to provide advance notice of the setting change so there is time to practice if you wish.
Also in the works is a complete re-vamp of how the playoff event will be formatted. More news on that will be released later, but we do plan on doing a trial run at the conclusion of this current season.
