Olympic Prolific (Tacoma, WA): May 14-16, 2021 - Fog, Sunburns, Presses, Beers, and Golden Chambers

First time poster. Been following this thread–lived in Seattle for five years and have played all of these tracks, each of them many times with the exception of Salish Cliffs.

Not sure if I’ll be able to make it, but a quick plug–that deal through the Murano is incredible. I don’t know how they are making money on it. It was aggravating living so close and being unable to take advantage of the bundled package.

Walking twilight at Gold Mountain is, in my estimation, the best deal in America as far as municipal golf goes. I never played Cascade, no need when you have Olympic. Tough track where par is generally a great score. Need to drive it well there. Amazing greens. Great clubhouse to have a beer and look out over the valley where the finishing holes are all visible.

I played the Home Course a lot. Incredibly fun. Very wide open off the tee, greens make you hit great approaches or have a play to miss appropriately. It’s always in phenomenal shape.

Chambers is Chambers. Looks even better in person.

I would agree with the plan to drop Salish–it’s a decent course, a bit resort-y. For me, the issue is the inconvenience of driving to and from Shelton. It’s a lot longer than Google Maps would indicate, mostly due to horrible traffic south of the Army base on i5. It can be brutal. Also, there’s nothing to do in Shelton except play blackjack at the casino.

Public golf in Seattle proper is not the best, but if anyone wanted to pop an extra round on the front or back end of their trip your best options are West Seattle (weird but fun, no range, great view of the Sound), Bellevue (standard parkland, very popular, but nothing that distinguishes it as a PNW course), or Jefferson (IMO, the worst of the three, but it is where Fred Couples learned the game if you’re into that). Stay away from Jackson, Druids Glen, Foster, or any non-Chambers public tracks in Tacoma.

Maybe things will break my way and I can join. That trip will be great.

Very hyped for this and think about it at least once a week.

Part of the PNW Crew are playing a “practice” round out at The Home Course tomorrow. Should be 6ish of us out there.

@bmasters Ben, would love to have you out!

@JScore Same here, bud. I wish the group organizer would get back to me faster with emails. It’s been a slow process so far. He was at the Masters and is probably gonna be off for the holidays now, too.

I will start to look into this seriously. I mean…come on!

It will be wonderful if we were able to celebrate a return to cross-border normalcy with this.

Fingers crossed.

Slow to seeing this, all in. Love all these courses and happy to help with host committee duties.

PREACH. If we can’t flex our Canadian muscles here what’s the point??

Oooh, this is like tailor made for me, glad I stumbled across it

I live IN TACOMA, The Home Course and Gold Mountain are two of my favorite courses to play in the area. I could definitely play The Home course Thursday, and Gold mountain Saturday. Chambers might be a harder sell for me but two rounds is “enough”! lol

Wont be able to host anyone, but I could possibly act as a ride from the Tacoma hotel to The Home course and Gold Mountain. Will keep an eye on this thread

Posting my interest now so I can keep track of the thread. Don’t wanna inundate you all with out-of-staters, but depending on how the world is looking both my wife & I will be looking to get out to Seattle to see her family in 2021. Combining a long vacation with a golf trip sounds like a win-win!

This is how I plan my life! :joy:

So I just booked tickets, along with my wife, to be in town from 13th to 22nd. Flexible so can always be cancelled given that the world is likely still going to be shitty. Only reason they’ve been booked is my wife is a bottle of red deep, and she wanted to do it. Guess I’ll add my name to the committed tab!

Schedule was changed a bit from the original proposal in the first post. It’s been so long I can’t edit the post. It will just be Friday-Sunday now with Gold Mountain, The Home Course, and Chambers Bay hosting. Thursday is out.

Well, shit, I might be able to just take a 3 day weekend and play all 3. (Might have to buy the wife something pretty for being golfing all weekend though…)

Don’t know your wife’s tastes but this sure is pretty.

New to NLU and signed up for this event. I’m located in Lakewood/Steilacoom.
