These get better with every new release, and you make playing golf in a hurricane look appealing. (Shoutout FJ weatherproofing)
I had similar weather at Barnbougle and you have to enjoy the experience, because the scores are not as fun!
Kudos to all, and I am currently listening to Frightened Rabbit and planning my next Scottish journey!
my fav NLU video to date. Truly amazing stuff. Hit the feels hard. As someone trying to make a Scotland trip happen, this made me even more motivated. Bravo to all.
It dawned on me watching this that I’ll likely never get to play TOC. It got me thinking: A younger version of myself would have dismissed this as self indulgent “look at me” bragging, fueled on by jealousy of not getting to have that opportunity.
The older version of me watched and felt a huge amount of joy for the boys. Hearing the way @Soly , @tron, and @djpie describe their feelings on TOC, and how their views have changed as they have played it more with such passion was inspiring.
The sincerity of the appreciation they had for the experience of playing the TOC in reverse really shined through. Whereas the younger version of me would have said fuck those guys, the JD of today was just real happy for them. And appreciative that they shared the experience with all of us. Especially since I’ve gotten to hang with them several times over the last few years.
Take a bow fellas. From the production, to the vibe, that was top class.
Saving TOC Reversed for Friday evening when I can watch it on the TV at home but just wanted to say thanks to @djpie and Mrs Pie for that trailer video and including Frightened Rabbit. I hadn’t heard Backwards Walk in a long time and I spent most of yesterday evening deep into the FR playlists and albums. Such a great band that I listened to a lot in the 2008-2011 period.
Hello, I’m Lee I am Scottish, 34 and unapologetically an indie kid, more unapologetically a Scottish band indie kid.
I’m also in a shitty hospital bed pretty unwell again.
The music selection you’ve* used for this video and promo have taken me back to being 18 and early 20s has been everything I needed to hear this week to the point of teary eyes. I never seen these worlds of mine colliding but holy hell did I need it.
Thank you *and I believe the true thanks belongs to Justine I’m told.
Watching this and the tie-in with their TS at TOC had me feeling so nostalgic to watching those when they first came out, and how selfishly even just my life has changed in that time frame, and how like they said you’ll never go on that one golf trip again, but a course can stand the test of time.
What a video
Just watched the video very very good. I caddied that day I was with the group from Dude Perfect. I’ll be honest I hated it and I have just realised why.
It wasn’t for me it was for the people lucky enough to be playing
It took away any knowledge I had it was like caddying there for the first time which made me exactly the same as my player. That made me very uncomfortable
I was watching thinking “why am I nostalgic for a trip I didn’t go on?” but then realized it’s been over 4 years since I started following during covid and had the same thoughts. Incredible stuff!
Late to the party. Man that was an awesome video. Whatever the song choice was around the 36 minute mark, hell to the yes! Boys keep upping their game with the video production, extremely enjoyable!
They have a tremendous back catalog as well as being pretty special live.
The promo vid was Frightened Rabbit who are honestly one of then best things Scotland has ever produced. We sadly lost Scott the heart of the band a couple years ago but his work lives on through some incredible albums and charity work.
If you felt something from the promo I ask you have a look at Tiny Changes and if you can help out it’s pretty close to their hearts and mine.
A good friend of mine was good friends with Scott and it breaks my heart anew every time I go back and read the final tweets he sent (and to be honest I probably revisit it more often than is good for me).
I DMed this to DJ but figure I might as well share it here too. Frightened Rabbit is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite bands of all time, and The Midnight Organ Fight might be my favorite album ever. Scott’s passing is the only celebrity death that truly hit me to my core and made me actually feel something when I heard the news. I had seen them play TMOF front to back like 2 months earlier, and Scott had seemed to be in a decent place (unlike other shows I had seen them play) and that had given me hope. I’ll forever remember him on stage, alone under a single light, singing Poke. It was magical and brought me to tears. Also - the one music performance that truly breaks me is Frank Turner (a good friend of the band) playing The Modern Leper in concert the day he heard the news. He basically cries his way through the song, it’s heartbreaking.
They are a special band and way way more people should know who they are and enjoy their music, even if they’re not going to be making anymore. I highly encourage folks to check out their music and Tiny Changes, as @BaldLee mentioned.
If you don’t believe how special they are look at how many random people all have a connection here from every corner of the world. Who would have thought a ten second instagram reel would stir up so much.
