Since handicaps can change, I would like to make a proposition.
I make a motion that all stroke “negotiations” should happen #onhere so the rest of us can consistently pepper in insults and the occasional chaos grenade from the peanut gallery.
I personally like this idea a lot and will be doing it with all my pod mates who feel comfortable doing so. But we have a fair amount of players that are not as #perpetuallyOnline as I, or some of us, are so making it a hard and fast rule I think would be tough.
Ideally, no matter how strokes are decided I’m hoping we can all agree that whenever a match is played at least one or two pictures is taken and there is a small write-up to go along with the reporting of the score. That way we can all follow along with every match.
A bit yes and no on that simply because some people have odd handicaps and course handicaps can be weird. Obviously, if anyone tries to negotiate hard to get like a two or three strokes more than their handicap then it moves toward scummy.
The new clubhouse at Schenley Park is beautiful. And I heard they re-routed the course so it doesn’t cross Schenley Drive, mid-hole, so many times (at least 6 IIRC) - is that right?
Used to play there a bunch in high school and summers during college (originally from Pittsburgh) Par 67, astroturf tee boxes…good times
That’s Bob O’Conner Golf Course right? I played there by myself a few years ago. I was shook when I had to hit over the road for the first time. Then I realized you crossed over 6 more times. Super fun but also bonkers
They have two routings right now. One is the original 18 which, like you remember, crosses the road six times! And yes you are hitting a golf ball over the road each of those six times . The alternate routing is 9 holes and I believe that it doesn’t cross the road at all. I avoid that routing and usually just jump around the other holes if they’re running the 9-holer. The new clubhouse is sick and is called the “Arnold Palmer Learning Center.” Two trackman setups, big 9-10 cup indoor practice putting green, a bunch of cool old Palmer stuff. The First Tee of Pittsburgh is based out of there so it’s pretty great. The pro there is a cool guy as well and has plans to transform the place into a 9-holer, a par 3 course, and a putting course. That’s a ways down the road but sounds pretty sweet.
Somehow didn’t have notifications turned on for this thread, so just got caught up on the last almost 3 weeks of posts, luckily didn’t see my name in the first half of pods.
Looks like work’s gonna be a little less productive tomorrow…
