I threw a bunch of stuff in the sale section right before the last H&B drop.
@ChickPhilA what model is the imperial big bucket (when its back in stock)? Watership?
So⦠a while back I bought some H&B NLU stuff in small (which is my usual size) and it was a smidge small so I exchanged for a medium. The medium was absolutely massive. Life was busy and it was too late to return it so itās just sitting in the closet. Stayed away from H&B.
Decided to give then another spin as I work in the office 4 days a week now and like the H&B collar a lot so used the $25 thing. Got a small and again a smidge to small. Exchanged for a medium because something seemed off about the last one and lo and behold it fits perfect.
These are both a M in tailored fit. How does this happen? I think my NLU M is more like an XL.
Iāve spent far too much money over the last few years playing the guessing game of whether I need a medium or large in H&B and have yet to find a sure fire way to decide, so I feel your pain. Iāve basically just decided that Iād rather have a large that fits like an FJ medium than running the risk of getting medium that fits like a shmedium. Sounds like most of the mediums Iāve received in the past wouldāve been just right for you, so maybe that one oversized shirt really is just an outlier for you.
If profit margins is what deters you from purchasing, I highly suggest you donāt look into profit margins of restaurant food and alcohol
And definitely do all of your professional services yourself.
And maybe donāt buy any consumer product ever?
Weāre getting closer

Thanks for the tips!!
I had similar issues, reached out to H&B customer service and received the following: āthe pique knits tend to fit a bit slimmer than the jersey knit styles because of the fabric, even though theyāre cut to the same specs.ā
So now Iām dialed at medium in jersey knit (smoother) and donāt buy anything in pique (micro waffle). Iāve found this to be the same with Johnnie-O.
H&B has also narrowed their armholes sometime in the last 5 years.
That makes some sense but I had a S before the M and it was too small. I needed to be like 5 pounds lighter. Then the M I needed to be 50 pounds heavier.
Iām in a slump buying stuff online. Getting shit products. Having to do returns/exchanges.
@ChickPhilA any word on a restock of the Wallace Hoodie in XL? Specifically the grey (1st choice) or sage (2nd choice)?
Have you noticed a difference between the type of material?
I have found that the performance jersey fabric always seems to fit smaller than anything in the pique category (polo wise). Not sure if thatās part of the issue here, but could be something to check in your collection.
This makes a lot of sense. In Polos Iām a M and 1/4 zips, hoodies, crews, I am a L.
I did just order this one, NLU x H&B Gordon Polo | Navy & White ā No Laying Up, in a Medium and it was WAY too tight. Swapped it out for a L. Itās a little loose, but not swimming in it.
Iāve got several of both types of material and still havenāt found a good way to predict which size to go with. No drastic size differences or anything, just seemingly always searching for the desired fit in their polos. Pullovers have been much better to me, mediums in the diamond knit stuff and larges in everything else.
I have one, I adore it. I wear XL mostly, and had three Ward sweaters in that size. The oldest fits well, the newer versions were much bigger, and found new homes.
The Wallace Hoodie fits much more like the original Ward. If thatās snug, size up.
Itās very, very expensive. Iām also gonna wear the SHIT out of it this winter.
was reviewing what they have left in their warehouse today when I was up at H&B
Will get a small restock dialed in time for holiday shopping.
Is anyone a small in H&B? I bought a small Maxwell polo by accident and it was a sale item so I couldnāt return it. Itās just sitting in a drawer now. Happy to pass it on to someone who can wear it.
