NLU Pro Shop (Part 2)

LOL, I wish, but that was a Fall color for H&B and not one that is carrying over for Spring.

This, like the idea of Strapped getting stale, is so weird to me. Colors are not seasonal. Why wouldn’t a brand like H&B stock their best selling items year round? Is there something I’m missing here, strategy wise?

I’m guessing it’s because people (myself included), buy colors that are more vibrant for spring and summer, and holding inventory of stuff that isn’t selling can be expensive

Yup, H&B thrives in pro-shops of private clubs. Members and guests will not buy 4 of the same color but you mix in seasonal colors and bang, member owns 6 polos without thinking.

Inventory management and cost control? You can’t have everything all the time - it ties up a lot of $$$ and space in warehouses/production lines/etc… Things need to ebb and flow. You try to tell a story via color in green grass shops (which is where most of H&B is being purchased) and if you have a muddled mix of every color it looks like a weird sale section . Core core core colors are carried over (navy, white, windsor, etc…) season to season, but literally every fashion company has seasonal colors.

kind of on this front @ChickPhilA what kind of spring and summer colors can we expect (for everything, not just H&B)? some of those sunset tones on the new hat in the mix?

Sounds a lot like OEMs telling you what kind of clubs you should play to have fun.

I’m out. Give me pastels, highlighter colors, and fun prints year round. People who wear ā€œfall colorsā€ are sheep. SHEEP!

And I agree with this that it does exist with every fashion company. I’m just saying it a dumb decision.

As someone who owns like 15 Rhoback polos, I get this.

What I don’t get is how someone literally thinks ā€œthis is green, I can’t wear green in Januaryā€ and then looks for a seasonal color in their closet. (and replace green with pink, brown, white, whatever color you want to make the point)

Make no mistake. I will wear pink or blue or red any day of the season, but I always gravitate towards a blue stripe. Let’s say I am a member of a club in Florida for example and I play there 20 rounds per year during the winter, I will not buy more than maybe 1 or 2 polos if they have the same selection but if, over the course of 4 months of golfing there the pro shop changes the display significantly I will be more likely to grab something out of my normal color scheme.

This is the way.

It’s always reassuring that the refuge knows more about colors and building a clothing brand than the brand itself.

I mean, the Refuge is the primary customer base, right? (Speculation for sure…) It wants what it wants, I suppose.

LOL, I literally work in brand marketing.

And reiterating that I’m not telling H&B how to run their business. I’ve never owned a piece of H&B clothing, so I’m not their target audience. I just find a lot of brand (and branding) decisions fascinating.
