NLU Pro Shop (Part 1)

This is hilarious because it was on my list of to-do’s today to come here and ask if there would be any version of this hat…

https://store.nolayingup.com/collections/imperial-hats/products/the-no-laying-up-hat-white-w-navy-logo?variant=8129648033893

…with a different logo. Since I’m neither a pro nor sponsored by NLU, I want to avoid double-logo’ing with the same logo. So when I wear a plain NLU polo, I often go with another hat. But these Imperial low-profile ones are my FAVORITE hat. I can’t wear anything with the stiff crown. Even the mid-rise ones stick up off of my head comically far.

But if I wore the wayward drive logo on the polo and the NLU monogram on the hat, no one who didn’t know NLU would be any the wiser.

I honestly don’t understand blade collars. Like what is their purpose? And why are they totally acceptable but a t-shirt a non-starter?

Buttons maybe? But are henley shirts acceptable?

I’d say no since they make collared shirts with no buttons. I really feel like it was only done because Tiger wanted to wear a t-shirt. And this was the compromise the old guys of olf would accept.

This is a technicality, but his hat features the NLU crest, and it is my opinion that the crest is superior to the monogram in every way. The L extending into a flag is * chef’s kiss *.

Wondering if NLU has given any thoughts to doing sunglasses. Goodr makes a good quality, inexpensive pair of sunglasses. They put out some Caddyshack sunglasses recently that made me think NLU Goodr sunglasses would be sweet.

I hate that they use polarized lenses, though. Need a non-polarized option.

I’m curious on this non polarized take

Something about polarized making it harder to spot a golf ball i think

Have you heard of Knockaround sunglasses? Similar price point to Goodr and I believe they do have nonpolarized options available.

Yeah, guess that maybe the case. Hard to really tell as the video appears to have been filmed with a potato, and I can’t get a decent look at it regardless of what I set the resolution to.

Entirely that I don’t like the effect polarized sunglasses have on screens. It can give me a headache. Much easier to have non polarized and not have to constantly take them on and off to see screens.

I have not. Are they good quality? Goodr sunglasses are great quality for the price - my wife and I use them for running and they stand up well to abuse, especially for $25 sunglasses.

Yeah, theyre not bad. I bought a pair on Amazon for around $20-25. Not a terrible amount and with it being through Prime, pretty easy return policy if you don’t like them.

Looks like some are unavailable but you can also buy them direct from their website

I can vouch for knockaround. I’ve had a few pairs both polarized and not. Liked them all. The screen issue totally makes sense.

I have heard that depth perception can be hindered by polarized lenses. I started wearing polarized shades 100% of the time while golfing a few years back and never noticed a difference, though. Another thumbs up for Knockaround. Waaaay more sturdy, both hinges and frame, than the pair of Shadyrays I have (can’t comment on Goodr).

I bought a pair of polarized sunglasses because every talked like they were the greatest upgrade. I hated them. I can wear them for short bursts, but anything of any length and I get this weird headache. No clue why, but I’ll never consider another pair of polarized lenses.

I also vouch for knock around.

Shit it is so niggly trying to get things all the way to NZ at the moment. Last pro shop package been en route for a month now! Last seen leaving Belgium :man_shrugging:. Bloody choke points

H&B has moved into the print game for polos :eyes::eyes::eyes:

Damn those are good, I need to block H&B to remove temptation…

I can understand people’s confusion with blade collars, as we usually think of collars as something that folds down.

I have a special affinity towards them, due to the traditional clothing of my people, but another name they use for a collar that doesn’t fold over is a mandarin collar. Supposedly the Portuguese coined that term after coming into contact with Qing Dynasty bureaucrats. (Not quite thrilled with the origin of the word “Mandarin,” as it comes from “mandar” which means “to command,” as the Qing dynasty was…problematic and oppressive to the majority ethnic group at the time, and the word now is used as a name for the national dialect of China…but that’s another story for another time)
