Besides the fact that I don’t like these privileged golfers completely whitewashing noted assholes like MBS, I don’t like the selfish nature of it. Because it’s nothing more than a money grab by certain individuals.
What do you think watching this will cost for us at viewer?
How will the remaining Tour be funded; Why would a US sponsor pony up 10 million+ when all the big names are gone?
Who gets the say in who gets to play? You can bet your butt certain players will be heavily protected.
The 48 will get filthy rich. But pro golf everywhere will struggle.
Until Tiger retires. Then it will be 2-3 years before people find out they really aren’t that interested in watching him “own” a team and the whole thing will implode as rating drop off a cliff.
Hey I’m a fan of chaos, so I don’t really mind. I doubt this gets anywhere, they need a whole host of things to go right, but if it does and the TV product is better than I’m all for it.
And what is pro sports otherwise?
Who cares about 50-150, but NOT the KFC guys? I mean let’s be real. It’s all arbitrary as it is.

the 48 is less a problem to me…it’s not FAR off from WGCs. But SoftBank/Saudi picking who we watch golf will be brutal.
You think Morikawa is getting air time? Fat chance unless he’s legit top 30 in the world.
Say good by to Thomas Pieters. But maybe say hello to Ryo Ishikawa. Max Homa? Forget about him. Barnrat? Gone.
Unless there is heavily sponsored draws, I’m hesitant to believe it will be anything but the ~top25 and then hand selected for self interest golfers.

Why do we care about 50-150? What about 150-250? Or 250-350? Where is the line… and why do we care? Why aren’t we squabbling more for KFC coverage, or adjacent?

Look, I get it, but at the end of the day, what makes these guys “entitled” to have careers in professional golf? They aren’t putting butts in seats, they aren’t drawing viewers, they are failing the role of the entertainer (which is why guys get paid in pro sports). Why do they deserve to compete for the same slices of the entertainment pie?
Lebron makes a gajillion dollars because everyone wants to watch him play. Same with Rickie Fowler and heck, even Tony Finau who has checks notes one win checks notes at the Puerto Rico Open checks notes which is an opposite field event.
Good question. He’s great (better than 90% of pro golfer crap) on pods. I really don’t give 2 shits about watching him golf.
Is it World Ranking or some sort of Q-rating that matters then? ie. Is Patrick Cantlay or Xander Schauffele bringing in eyes? I think Jordan Spieth (out of top 48) would be a larger draw than either of those two guys.

Bullshit. Everyone is standing on the shoulders of one fucking guy. And there was no “pay it forward” attitude in Jake’s era. Zero points awarded for the subsequent emergence of Tiger.
