Hat acquisition is a point of contention here as well. I try to keep the visible pile the same height… mix in 1 in… 1 out of view policy.
That was hilarious - him whispering “no, baby, the other ones…fuck” during an interval cracked me up.
I actually have 1 gnarly cap that I sometimes wear to keep the sweat out of my eyes (but usually a headband). Some of the 100 caps get worn once or twice a year. I will say that quarantine days have put some of the hats front and center for the many, many zoom, slack, hangout, skype calls. ha!
Was invited to a fundraiser for relief for local businesses near my parents home and committed to 19 miles a day (on average) this week. So, 133 miles total. Going to be an extremely active week…
I’m a big fan of the bandanna for rides, I go all out Karate Kid—hats on WebX meetings is a for sure. Though, I’ve been rotating through caps and bucket hats to keep the students guessing. I may work a bandanna in this week in for book discussion.
Now I need to put a bucket hat on for my afternoon 3 hour video meeting.
Skipped the bike yesterday, my legs were still so beat from some strength training Saturday.
Back on the grind tonight with a PZE tide in my new zones!
My buddy who is a devoted Peloton user suggested that I start up with the “Introduction to Cycling” … today was the Low Impact ride with Leanne. It was MUCH harder than the first few 'beginner" rides…not sure what low impact means but going at 95-100 was tough … that said, I did feel good about finishing it.
Also I’m a sucker for a hot blonde with a British accent but not sure Leanne is my cup of tea. But next up is just a general ride for all levels. I have yet to get my butt up off the saddle. Any thoughts to me doing one of the “Advanced Beginner” rides to get that comfortable? Speaking of comfort, does the saddle and handlebars get more comfy or am I doing it wrong?
Sorry for all the newbie questions but I’m REALLY invested in wanting to love this so I want to set myself up for success.
They do take a little adjustment. Some people swear by padded bike shorts; I’ve not gone that far.
If you have not done so, google Christine D’Ercole and bike adjustment - - - she’s got a good short video on common mistakes. I trust her as she races competitively and spent years working in bike shops. She’ll help you with basic setup, but if you go deep diving on Peloton Reddit there are charts that help you make micro adjustments with seat angle, positioning that target specific problems (pain in knees, etc…)…
Actually, here ya go: https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotoncycle/comments/bzxwem/bike_setup_videos/
Olivia is a fking machine. Tried to get to 1k output in an all out effort at the end and came up just short. Was able to hold 600+ for 20 seconds though (just abt died after)
60 Minute Mondays continues … my 3rd Monday in a row, and only my third ever 60 min ride. Took @anon43372372 advice and didn’t try to chase waterfalls. These rides are exhausting.
Mere mortal numbers compared to many of y’all in here but this one felt pretty good. Four minutes into it I lacked motivation and had no desire to ride that hard but then something snapped and I had to chase the demons away. This one felt good after a frustrating few weeks.
You get capped at output by resistance, no matter how far you take the cadence. Once it hits 115 or 120, output won’t increase further.
Low Impact just means there’s no standing
I jumped on the bike early this morning and saw one of the best to have never won a major had started a ride about 4-5 minutes before me, so I joined his ride, and wanted to see if I could keep up with Westy. The answer was a decisive no. By the end his output was 170 watts ahead of mine. I don’t operate under the illusion I am anything resembling an athlete, but even an old man like Westwood crushed me. I’ll have to get by knowing at least I’m keeping up with him in number of majors.
Got the bike 10 days ago. Worked through a couple easy rides and started with the FTP test last week.
Keeping it going with Denis this morning.
Echo the “mortal numbers” sentiment above. Some of you guys are machines.
Bike ordered – don’t get until June 12 though. 43 days until…
#NoLayingUp follow it
NLUrefuge was not allowed lol
Now that the weather has been getting better, I’ve been doing some of the Peloton outdoor runs. Some of that content is really great too. I’m planning on running a half marathon early next year, and might to the marathon prep program.
Agreed, I use it a bunch.
I understand Peloton is all about the “community” but I’d really like them to add a free run feature where it just GPS tracks your run data and you can listen to your own music/pod/etc. Or even if the Tread classes on digital you could enable GPS tracking for that data
#NLUrefuge wasn’t allowed but I was able to add #NLURefuge
Strange.
