NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

I did my first tabata ride with AT today. Not a huge fan personally but definitely a nice change of pace.

I did notice one thing regarding our earlier discussion about the interface lagging behind the resistance call outs and/or just being plain wrong…I imagine it is indeed done by some shitty AI, because the ride I did had a few times where it was delayed or wrong, and I noticed that times where AT didn’t specifically say numbers always led to the interface being off.

I imagine they’re probably told to always say numbers so the AI catches it, but there were a few times where AT said something along the lines of “we’re going to increase the resistance to 50 for a 30 second interval and then pull it back for 15 seconds off” etc., and the AI seemed to not catch the “pull it back” since he didn’t specifically say numbers. Annoying.

Another week, another ride. Thanks @Bob for nominating this week’s ride of Robin’s 30 Min A Tribe Called Quest Ride from 2/23/22! @ChickPhilA please update when you’ve got a minute!

We just finished moving this weekend and my motivation for exercise has been nonexistent. Excited to get back into it this week with this one!

Can’t wait for overzealous laughter… Love A Tribe Called Quest though

Oh this is awesome, I added this to my stack last week just because I saw it. LOVE this band, this should be a super fun ride.

That was a fun if odd ride. No hills, all speed intervals. I was in the top quartile and only had 225kj in the 30 minutes. But I do love Tribe and it’s for sure gonna be blasting on Spotify for me for a few days now…

This was exactly the ride I needed to get back into things after a long wknd away from the bike. I associate Robin with tough tabata rides but this one was far less stressful.

Interesting to see your (impressive) output. You averaged about 5 higher cadence and resistance than me. And had almost 50% higher output. A good reminder that a little extra goes a LONG way.

Long time first time. I’ve never had a problem with the bike+ changing during Ben rides. I’m a pretty monogamous pelotoner though. Try to branch out for cool downs but I can’t stand most of the trainers. I don’t need someone telling me I’m awesome when I’m dying on the bike. Big Ross yoga guy too. I hate Dennis for yoga but he’s so much different during his cycling rides. May try a few more of him on the bike.

I target the top 10% in output on any ride I take. Usually I get there by going above the resistance range but try to hit the cadence. I’d been away from the bike for 5 days and wasn’t going to take this ride as a first ride back as I saw it was with Robin and her rides are usually hard. However, when I looked at the info on the ride it looked like an ok ride to take as the rating was like 6.5/10 rather than the usual Robin ride of 8/10. Managed to get into the top 10% without having to go as hard as I normally would for a Robin ride. Just realised I analyse this stuff a lot!

Glad I’m not the only one, I always challenge myself to be in the top 10%… top 5% once I get back on a regular schedule

Nice leg flusher the day after leg day in Total Strength. Am I the only one who thinks Robin is the cringiest of the bunch?

I usually ride with my headphones on but a few months ago I didn’t wear them for a Robin class. My girlfriend, who was in her office a floor below where the bike is in our house, could hear the class. She asked me after the ride who that instructor was and why she was so preachy? I guess I’m accustomed to it now and I tend to do her Tabata classes which are often so hard that I just focus on getting through the ride and less on what she is saying.

First time, long time. BDeck25 on the bike and currently dreaming of a tread. Does anyone plan a ride time to get a crew together in the weekly ride? I’m a natural 6am’er if anyone wants to link up

Finally broke down and bought one of the bikes. Kinda bummed that in my area they only deliver on Tuesday’s, but oh well! Also, thanks to @yungloudancolin for the referral code to put towards the shoes!

Robin is very much into the motivational side of things. I wouldn’t call it preachy but that’s just because that sounds judgmental to my ears. It’s a bit much but I don’t find it overwhelming. I think she’s probably the “most” in that department though.

Different flavors for different folks… to me, I can’t stand Robin, her coaching style and just overall attitude on the bike. But that’s the beauty of Peloton, plenty of other instructors. Just did an Emma 30-min 90s ride today, def right up my alley.

Listen, fer sure. Christine is why the “more music less instructor” option exists

Indeed, that’s the worst part, her music is pretty good!

It’s not enough. Id pay extra for a mute instructor option.
