NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

I have the whoop 3.0 and didn’t renew in November. Still works with peloton as a HR monitor even without a subscription.

Oh, that’s interesting. I didn’t think that would work but will do that as well. Thanks for that!

Thanks @ChickPhilA for nominating this week’s ride! We’ve got Denis’s 30 Min 2000’s ride on tap! Please update the title when you’ve got a moment also! Enjoy and have a great week.

Nice - took a good Denis 20 min 80s ride this morning and am happy to see him back on the weekly ride

This is definitely worsened by Kendall being a bit confusing with callouts to begin with, but I’ve noticed a decent amount of classes lately where whoever puts the on-screen numbers up for each class seems to be off. Like I swear I’ll hear an instructor say “45-50 resistance” and it’ll say 35-40, something like that.

I’m convinced they’ve spent money to do it via some AI that is mediocre at best when they could pay an intern to watch the class and do it manually for like $15/hour.

I’ve noticed it too. Especially on cool down sections and the cadence gets bumped down to 60-70 but it is still showing like 100-110.

They don’t even need an intern. The screen the teacher looks at has everything on it so they know what to call as they go. IT’S ALREADY IN A COMPUTER SOMEWHERE TIMED TO THE CLOCK IN CLASS.

Took the weekly ride today.

Jigsaw into sweet disposition was :fire::fire: and of course ending with the Refuge’s favorite song of the 00s ( I do not acknowledge the 2nd version of the poll).

Haven’t heard much Incubus in a while. Enjoyed that ride.

I liked that incubus song in particular because of the alternating 6/4, 4/4 time signatures.

Weekly ride was on point. The Incubus was just :ok_hand:t2:

That is an exceptionally tidy ride graph.

I’m pretty sure they used to have operators at a BPO do these at scale and then implemented some sort of “AI” like you said to reduce costs. It’s probably just some voice to text overlaid on a time stamp of the class that inputs those metrics.

Yeah, it’s gotten to the point that at times I hear an instructor yell out cadence/resistance there are times where I can just tell it’s not going to be interpreted right. Any human could just rewind and listen closer. What’s insane is that both @marklemcd pointed out, it’s in a computer somewhere already AND the subtitles pick it up correctly. So it’s a total whiff by Peloton. They don’t seem to care.

Aside from the obvious way of tracking progress through doing PZ, I do like occasionally going back and doing classes I’ve already done and enjoyed after awhile. As a big rap/Migos fan, I just went back and did the AT class that was all Migos. I originally did it in early January, about 3 weeks after I got my bike. That time, I finished with 231kj. This time, I finished with 308kj around 2 months later, and I probably could’ve gone harder earlier in the ride to be fair.

Not entirely sure what constitutes proper progress, but I felt pretty decent about it. Slowly but surely.

I do this from time to time - especially with PZP challenges as they recycle classes a decent amount. It’s fun to just ride with the only other folks on the leaderboard being…you. Nice progress!

Did the weekly ride for the first time in forever, excellent nomination. First ride with Denis as well, I really enjoyed it - proper energy level, good technical guidance, and most importantly great tunes. Will ride with him again for sure.

I’ve officially done as many rides in March as I did from February to December last year, success!
