Love Trails
It is just one trip
Don’t move to Nova Scotia
Cabot is great too
And yet only @ChickPhilA took home the hardware…
Been holding off on writing a mushy post because I haven’t had the energy. Also don’t want to forget to include anyone. So I’m going to avoid shouting anyone out, with one exception.
But it was a great trip, and I had a blast. There was nobody on the trip I wouldn’t play golf with again, which is not something I always say after trips. A fantastic group with a great experience. The one negative is how many times I got called a psychopath by you all for playing a second 18 at Pac Dunes after Old Mac, but that might be a fair statement.
Favorite moment of the trip was @clevelandgooner having me, my caddy, and @Schneid13 bent over with laughter with his Big Lebowski joke on the tee of Trails 11. I can’t do it the joke justice, so I don’t repeat it, but god damn. Play golf with him if you ever can.
Thanks to everyone that put up with me in their group, especially when I was moping around Pac Dunes Tuesday morning. Can’t wait for the next time with anyone. And if anyone is in Denver and wants to tee it up, hit me up.
Me too! Very impressive. Will definitely buy one for sure.
Amen, I personally want to say thanks to @Harbo1 @McRib @goodmaej13 @enriquedlcm @MileHighHoosier @1NoVaPar @tkeats @fullbodyfix @redcedar14 @Bunk for treating this 98 year old like one of the gang on the course, and not the Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade. It was too cool to get a know a little about each of you and that our golf disease is the best illness possible. Lots of mediation and reflection on the way home and most thankful the sounds of the ocean are still in my head. Finally, Mr. Goodman, would you pick up the pace, the foursome behind us is riding our ass … … you sir, are an absolute joy.
PS - if any of you are in the Greater Seattle/Tacoma area, feel free to drop me a line and we’ll play Chambers, and at my rate, it’ll save you at lest a c note.
Be well my friends,
Couple of highlights for me:
I played Saturday morning at 7:20 at Bandon Dunes and carried my bag. On the par 3 2nd hole I tugged my tee shot way left into a bunker. The pin was middle right and I could see the top of the stick. It was about 50-55 yards, so I aimed left of the flag and got clean contact with the ball. It took a few seconds for me to get up the hill and my ball was going up the slope on the back right corner of the green and it rolled back 20 feet into the hole for a deuce. I was playing with a father and his two sons and we all went nuts.
At Sheep Ranch with Tron, SakLunch, and MikeHighHoosier I spanked a driver and a perfect 5w to get to the front of the green on the par 5 13th. I don’t hit the ball far so eagle putts on par 5’s isn’t a thing for me. Which is why I promptly 3 putted
You mean 15? I don’t know where the pin was but if it was up on the top tier in back that’s one of the toughest two putts on earth from the front
No it was definitely 13. I had about 40 feet or so and my putt was on the spine. It was towards the back. Super tough putt! The 15th is a short par 4.
It is all about
Friends we made along the way
Thank you NLU
Grateful for the time
The weather, courses, and buds
And true, Old Mac fuqs
Sheesh reading is obv not my strong suit I thought you said Old Mac. My bad
Did you get the minus 1 or minus 2? Man thats impressive. I cant recall anyone telling me they got hit with this from bandon. Usually the winds or the bunkers or lengthy putts cause first time visitors to mot be able to go low in my experience.
Maybe it was the precision pro 10.
Shoutouts to my affable roommates: @ajsHTX and @Jrembold.
More shoutouts to the trip’s felicitous heartbeats: @ChickPhilA, @Tron, @Soly, @Randy, @MerchCzar, @sundaybag, @Cody.
Shoutout to everyone, no offense to anyone.
Best Memories: (1) Standing 235 out on the 13th fairway at Sheep and telling my caddie: “Downhill and wind back? We must be at Hometown Buffet because it’s all you can eat from here.” Then I hit a buttery 4H to like 30 feet. Three putted. (2) Telling @Jrembold that he needs to work on his club throw aim because he threw, I think, a wedge behind us and had to walk back and get it. (3) Meeting a bunch of cool people. (4) Hearing Tron’s Doakian Manifesto IRL. (5) Shooting a career low at Old Mac.
Worst Memories: (1) Hitting pretty much every shot fat after the 10th hole at Pac on Wednesday after my body decided it no longer wanted to play golf. (2) Missing the 11th green at Pac long left on two separate occasions. (3) Playing Pac Dunes twice.
Notable Shit: (1) Unintentionally bought Cody an old fashion after he walked his tab on Monday night at the Forge/Tufted Puffin bar. (2) Didn’t remember most of Trails the first time I played it because I was enjoying the walk and the company so much. (3) I think I won a skin on Old Mac, but who could say at this point.
Finally, please consider donating, anonymously of course, to the Old Mac PAC.
And a few shoutouts to my magnanimous playing partners: @Jrembold, @BigBird, @enriquedlcm, @redcedar14, @1NoVaPar, @cbass, @fullbodyfix (x2), @fishtopher18 (x3).
Can only tag 10 users in a post. More magnanimous partners: @Randy, @TrajMahal, @chrisisoutrunning, @Godmar, @Schneid13, @ryanrokisky, @MrChickPhilA.
Loved seeing you tie your career best on old Mac!
Is that why he was so adamant on getting a game at Pac Dunes? Lol good thing he cooled off at Pac I wouldn’t have survived
Couldn’t make any putts at Pac. Otherwise it might’ve been ugly.
……the 12 shots helped
