Western society for the past 100+ years: Women and men are equals and we must endeavor to treat them as such

Iacas in 2021: Nah, no one wants that

If you go look at your own poll, most people said 5 years.

Edit: :woman_facepalming:t3: Not a numbers guy, I’m a professional athlete for a reason

This isn’t about equal “rights.”

The small-time actor isn’t entitled to the same compensation as Tom Cruise.

You wanting a discussion on any thing is the most disingenuous thing posted on this board. Thanks for the non-answer.

Going to repost the questions in case you missed them and want another try

I hope you realize why this is an awful comparison.

I don’t think you do, though, because you keep making it.

The number of times you’ve fallen off this block I’m surprised that you keep climbing up.

Mike Whan has all the numbers and all the data and says it is going to happen. You, who do not have access to all that and are just going off your opinion, say it isn’t.

28% said 5 years. 45% said 10+ years.

Except now we have numbers that say the women generally outdraw the men in tennis (at least for the majors). We have numbers that say the women outdraw the men in soccer. We have numbers that say the WNBA gained viewership during what should have been their worst year (because of competition) simply because they were given air time on real stations. But there are still people that think women sports won’t be popular no matter what. If actual hard evidence of this working in other sports doesn’t get him to at least question his stance, there is literally no evidence that he will accept.

I keep thinking, someone saying the lpga wouldn’t attract as many fans would mean they’ve been given the opportunity to succeed, which they haven’t. Setup for failure right out of the gate. And, while I’m sure the intent is good, the marketing that I have seen misses the mark and makes it clear the lpga is back burner

Ha ha ha. Sure.

That’s essentially the same question I’ve asked. I don’t have the answers. I’m hoping to discuss what other people think, given what’s possible. What’s probably not possible? A network just deciding out of a sense of “fairness” to show the LPGA every weekend in mid-afternoon time slots.

We’re not there yet. And I don’t think we’ll be there within five years.

Do you have an opinion on it?

Also what is your definition of the above word and is it opinion or fact based?

you leading this conversation anywhere productive.

Can your caddy wear a GoPro for an entire tournament week? And then can said footage be posted somewhere that I can throw all my money at it?

I do, and your question makes no sense: most discussions involve both facts and opinions. Fact: the lowest rated NBA finals game still saw 10.4x as many viewers as the highest rated WNBA finals game.

Then you lead. Go ahead. Tell us how we get five or more equivalent events with equal sized purses within five years?

Ideas off the top of my head to make women’s golf more attractive? First, I’d invent a time machine and figure out how to make Michelle Wie everything she could have been.

So you’re opinion is that we don’t get there and women’s sports continue to suffer.

And I was asking for you definition of discussion. And if it was fact based (from a dictionary) or opinion (something you made up in your head)

As for how we get there. Many people have their opinion to that. I’ve already said it, it’s Majors and their hosts doing something. The Masters is the one that can accelerate this the most

It’s for sure a coverage issue, but not in the sense that we’re starting today as Time = 0. It’s a compounded problem that started forever ago. Consider this—Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and Tommy Armour were playing US Opens before women had the right to vote.

So men’s golf has had every single advantage possible since the beginning of time. So here we are today and you bring up the hypothetical that more people would flip on men’s golf than women’s golf tomorrow afternoon if given a choice. And to that I say no shit, but it’s disingenuous to not consider the paths of the two sports.

Consider my skepticism at the #womenworthwatching campaign the USGA rolled out last year. It’s not because women aren’t worth watching, it’s because networks, advertisers, and decision makers will need to take hard actions to combat the economic advantages baked into the men’s game without falling prey to the circular logic I mentioned before. I don’t trust them to do that.

I don’t think you wanna see the number of energy drinks my caddy drinks in a day :joy: you might have a heart attack just watching

But, the poll wasn’t
Option 1 - 5 years
Option 2 - 10+ years

The majority of the votes in the poll went to “5 years”. That is a fact.
