DueII
YES! I think list goes in order of arrival.
I dunno guise. I am torn. DYING down here. I am so into and needing to be a part of one of these trips. My soul is being tormented by the thoughts of once again missing it.
I am on the list. However, I can’t fully get behind the idea of traveling that far to walk a Muni, albeit a great one. If I am going to book a flight and leave the fam, I want to play at least 2ish rounds. My ability to secure “leave” is limited, so playing needs to be a part of my weekend. HOWEVER, doing an alternative event in the area or “side rounds” would force me to miss the merriment and shenanigans with a group that I am eager to be a part of, which are the very draw of coming to Detroit in the first place.
A true rock and a hard place sitiation. Thoughts from other “alternates” and/or folks who “snoozed and losed”?
“Dual” to the Death
I like this but our dumb sans-serif font makes it look like you’re just bad at typing
I think you’re right
Play Friday afternoon and Sunday morning with everyone as we will scatter or do tee times. Play an alternate course on Saturday morning with the other alternates. Watch the duel in the afternoon. Great weekend.
Quite a few of us watched the entire Duel this time. It was fun.
One benefit of sticking with a traditional roman numeral counting is that eventually, when we get to the teens and twenties (which I am virtually certain we will), we can start just straight parodying Super Bowl logos
Edit: And Wrestlemania logos
True…the “alternate course on Saturday morning” part was the struggle. But if there is a large enough group, which the list is quickly morphing into, it may limit the FOMO.
I mean the alternates could just plan their own trip. If we’re going to Michigan why not just head up to N Michigan and play Forest Dunes, etc??
(this is coming from an alternate who has very little chance of making this happen to begin with)
Keeping in the Muni spirit, your best bet local to Rackham would be Springdale and Lincoln Hills. Nine-holers, but closest public options near The (ever-evolving name here).
Royal Oak is under 10 mins away too
Let’s not forget about the exchange rate guise…if this turned into the first international duel at Roseland and they charged us $10K (Canadian) to rent out the property for the day we’re looking at:
$100 a person???
Charge me $500. it was worth it.
RIGHT. I always forget that this is still open, considering they shut down the other Royal Oak nine.
The silence is deafening on this thread during the NLU premiere.
next time I do a trip, I can’t take insane 3 AM flights.
I think I was running on less than 8 hours of sleep OVER THREE DAYS
I nearly passed out from exhaustion when we were chilling at the bar on Sunday and I definitely was not 100% myself
the flight home was brutal, since it was on one of those regional jets. I was trying to hold my head in my hands to nap
@tchap80, we are so grateful that you shared your family story. Quite the journey so far and we are all glad to jump on board in some small way.
So yeah, I’m crying over here in El Segundo. Let’s roll, folks.
Is there any way we can get a logo to incorporate Max’s signature glasses like ESPN does with SVPs?
RIP Normandy Oaks.
Royal Oak is just dying for a nice renovation but seems very unlikely. It seriously needs drainage work and some tree removal.
Didn’t you stay up all night on Thursday? That’s madness. It ruins like my next three days staying up all night
edit: I got close to 0 sleep on Thursday, maybe 2 hours because I had a lot of energy from excitment
Sunday - We went to bed around 11 (I’m not even sure) and I was up on Sunday morning around 2. I was out the door a little after 3.
I landed around 1130, got a ride to Long Island to put away my travel bag and then drove back to Astoria, around 2
