@JBors, when you are all decompressed, think you could post the results of the morning round?
Holy crap. What a freaking day. I will have more to say later on tonight, but for now I’m just going to leave this here.
The absolute most ridiculous and generous group of sickos I’ve ever seen. I love all of you.
THANK YOU!
Please borders open up. Want to do this tooooooo badly!!
I had such a good time with you and the crew on our round. Was so great to have a local to show everyone those bombing routes/angles (and talk about great tee shirts with )
They are in the spreadsheet on the pairings tab.
Seriously someone call the zoo and tell them to come get their giraffe off of Rackham.
Yeah that giraffe is an idiot, he doesn’t belong on a golf course
Might have to serve a cease and desist
Had a blast. Thanks to @JBors , @JDGAFFLIN , and everyone else who put this together. This was my first NLU event and it far exceeded what my expectations were. Had to bounce out early, mom is in town from Florida, still got in 27 holes though, met some great people, and really had a blast. Cant wait for the next one. Glad it was a success for Max.
Glad you came out, and hope to see you at future events!
Big props to you Nate. The Winston Collection items were/are pure class.
That was a huge win for the cause.
What a great time. I’m still coming down from it.
I don’t see any scores on that sheet? Maybe it’s just me? But the scores column looks blank.
Ah yeah it’s because I did it on my computer when I wasn’t connected to the internet. I’ll log on tomorrow and it should update (I think).
Edit: Ok it’s now updated
Sounds like an incredible event—wish I could have made it and will look forward to future events in metro D!
After a couple of days of decompressing from my high of this weekend and I am going to try and write some words that (hopefully) make sense.
It is truly insane what this community has become and the power if wields in supporting amazing causes. When COVID got us the first time around it felt like we might never make this thing happen, but I am super proud that so many in the community were able to bring life back to this. The enthusiasm and support over the last few months to make Maxamania into something real is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
@tchap80 thank you so much for making the long-drive with Corin to attend this event. It was great to finally meet you, and the two of you are extremely genuine and wonderful people. Hopefully we can get some refugees to the GFPD outing next year!
@JDGAFFLIN I know I said it at the event, but I want to say it again here, you are a freaking superstar. You might be the most midwestern person I have every met in my life, which might be the highest compliment I can give someone.
Also big thanks again to @jawnnypage for the scorecards (which were incredible) and donating back his 50/50 winnings, @N8dogg2669 for his generosity, @SpartanButters for running the derby, and for all of our hosts at UMGC on Friday. You helped make this weekend super special.
And to everyone else, it was fantastic to meet literally all of you in person. Just an amazing group of people who were so enthusiastic and really came together to support the cause and purpose of this event. I kind of think we HAVE to do this again…
Congrats to @Double_Bogey_Dave and @MattyB for grabbing the two NIT spots. Excellent playing from both of you.
Big shout out to @Lazstradamus for being the initial drive to make this a reality a year and a half ago and for connecting with Karen at Rackham to share our vision and cause. I may have bested him in the duel, but Laz battled through some nasty back pain, never complained (unlike the guy who finished 2nd at Kiawah), and still showed out.
And finally, big thanks to my caddie @jimithng23 for keeping me on track. Honestly you could have a career as a professional caddie on the PGA Tour. The guy just freaking gets it.
And with that, I’d like to share our final fundraising totals. I just made the final donation to the GoFundMe for our raffle and tee marker proceeds, and we will also see a final donation in the coming days coming from our merch proceeds. If we add up the donations, raffle, auction, merch, tee markers, and local businesses we hit $9000 dollars coming directly from the efforts of the Refuge community!
A SINCERE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!
amazing work everyone. so glad I got to be part of it.
Easy to caddie for a player who 1) knows his game & 2) trusts his caddie.
We’ve played a good amount of golf together over the last year or so and yesterday was the most stress free, steady golf I’ve seen you play.
Great event, thanks to all who worked their asses off to make it happen!
I forgot to call out @sundaybag for the SICK BELTS! And @MrChickPhilA for the mini-belts which were hilarious. And @Carlitos for the tee markers.
A lot of moving pieces, guys.
