How Many Golf Courses Have you Played..?

Around 300 for me. My spreadsheet says 301 but pretty sure I’m missing a fair number.
This includes some par 3s and 27 hole places (also the putting course at St. Andrews).
The number of courses that have failed was kind of surprising.

About 15 years ago, I started collecting logo balls from each course I’ve played. Once I reached 50 (the number my display holds) I started keeping them in the order of the quality of the courses and removed the ones outside the top 50. I have 89 course logo balls in my collection and the top 25 are all top 100 courses like the Ocean Course, Baltusrol, Mid Ocean-Bermuda, Fiddler’s Elbow and Harbortown. I don’t have logo balls from every course or some of the private ones I’ve played, so I’ve probably played about 150. It’s cool to reminisce and maybe I’ll start writing the scores and dates on some of the more notable ones. I’ll add at least another 5 after my buddy trip this year to Pinehurst. My kids also like it when I bring extras back for them as souvenirs.

for some reason, a former south african pro built an app that lets you track the number of places you’ve played. ( i say for some reason b/c i see 0 way to monetize such an app and it’s an incredibly clunky app.

regardless, i’ve played 254 courses over the last 25 years or so.

@kevlar10 - don’t really think fiddler’s elbow off route 78 in jersey belongs in the same category as the other courses you listed.

Not all of the courses are that good but the River course is very good. The other part of it is the quality of the country club. It did go through a rough stretch but it’s an excellent club.

I’m sure I’m missing some from years ago, but from memory, I got exactly 50. Most in PA, CT, SC, and FL. One in Europe (Le Golf National).

That means, I’m pretty sure, Streamsong Black this past July, was my 50th unique course. Not bad!

Has anyone tried to go back to any of their courses and get flags from each one? I want to try and get a keepsake from each one that i have played and I have about 40%.

I am at 98. Can’t wait for the 'rona to be over to break through the 100 mark.

I’ve been going through this in my head, and I’m at 139, though I’m certain I’ve left off a couple of one-offs.

At first thought, that’s a lot of golf courses. On second thought, I’ve got some work to do to get that number up to something respectable.

Update: 148

Another update: 156, I think that’s it.

I’m at 92 on my Google Map that I track them on and I think it is pretty close to accurate. My only unknowns are 3-4 courses we played in Alaska on a family vacation right after I started playing golf in HS.

I’ve really picked up the pace over the past couple years though. Last year I played 40 different courses with probably 25 or so being brand new to me.

This year I was hoping to take a few golf trips to new places and bang out a bunch more.

Damn. I only have 25. I really have to get some work in. Hopefully Covid is over soon

/starts thinking
apple mountain, empire ranch, bass lake (r.i.p), haggin oaks (x2), ancil hoffman, teal bend, tpc harding park (x2), poplar creek, presidio, lincoln park, bayonet, pasatiempo, peter hay, bradshaw ranch, darkhorse, lake wildwood, incline village, cabo del sol (x2), mauna lani, talking stick, torrey pines, el dorado hills (r.i.p), poppy hills, poppy ridge, oakmoore, pacific grove, cold springs, green hills

so 31

Glad I’m not the only one in double digits… I count 43. Of which, 23 are in NC and 22 have been in the last 12 months

I’m currently up to 338. Been keeping track since I started at seven years old in 1997. I try and play as many new courses as possible. Luckily I have worked up and down the west coast so I’ve been able to add to my number fairly regularly.

about 270, by country and state, saw an article from an old guy on golf digest who recommended starting to write them all down before you lost count. i’ve forgotten a few.

Fiddler’s Elbow isn’t in “that” category but it’s pretty damn good, especially the most recent course, Forrest, I think, by Rees Jones.

I’m up to 289 now

He’s a probably older than me so my 25 isn’t that bad, don’t feel too bad about my number

Oh, he’s only a year older than me…

I’m lucky enough to work in golf so most of those rounds are comped. I’ve been pretty lucky. I also make sure to play the most obscure and out of the way courses I can. Makes golf more fun

There appears to be a backend where, presumably, business can pay for some kind of access or advertising.

My number is 151.

Up to 303
