Who says no?

Don’t fall for the obvious rage bait praising St. Louis and turn this into yet another geography thread

a couple weeks ago the best fans in baseball were literally giving away tickets for games against the team with the self proclaimed second best fans in baseball (san diego). Tuff look

I hate the Cardinals as a lifelong Cubs fan. You get rid of those idiot fans and now we are talking!

St. Louis is a much more enjoyable city when you just tune out all talk of baseball

Pittsburgh North and South Park Munis finally went to online tee times after being paper tee times and First Come First Serve. Waits got really bad especially after times were held for “the regulars”. Some other local muni’s still require you call for a tee time as well. I’ll try to send an Incline Club fella yinz way that plays more than I do (that doesn’t have children or doesn’t live the c-suite life…).

Otherwise you gotta book tee times at least 4+ days in advance if you want to play before like 1-2pm on Fri-Sundays typically…

As for baseball, Skenes!!!

Is this Humber Valley? I know its one of the tougher city courses to get on as it is one of the few par 70+. Lakeview in Mississauga is also notoriously difficult but worth it. I have had luck with Centennial this year which has been nice.

I think most of this is a rural vs urban conversation. Where I live you barely need a tee time. Unless you want to play before lunch on a weekend or holiday during prime season and on one of the better courses in the area, you can just drive to the course and have at worst a minimal wait. But if I drive 30-45 minutes towards Baltimore/DC, that all changes.

They aren’t even the best fans in their own state though……

That’s pretty much what I found when I lived in the area. Thing is, everything seemed like it was a 30 minute drive. I wonder how that plays in other cities with population densities and availability? Everything that isn’t right in town usually has times.

There are a few that are more out of the way, it largely depends on where you are located though. I’m in a bit of a sweet spot in south GSO right near I-85, I can get to most in under 30, Greensboro Natl takes 30-35 to get all the way up north. Winston is more of a haul but I have a lot of options in the 15-20 minute range. Speaking of more in town courses, looking at this weekend even Jamestown is fairly open which was surprising to me.

Just here to say that Sand Creek Station is sweet.

To expand on that, the resident pricing is absolutely brutal. I have friends who get City of Houston services or have a Houston address but don’t get the resident rate. You kinda touched on it but so many of the public courses are absolute land mines for the “weekend golfer” with a shit ton of water and forced carries. I think East River 9 has sorta helped but it’s only nine holes and frankly gets pretty expensive fast. Layout of the city obviously does no favors too, for most people there’s really only a few options on your side of town, otherwise it’s an hour trek access town to play 5 hour round.

It was Lakeview that I was thinking. Absolutely brutal booking system.

This is absolutely part of the Houston problem. Suburban sprawl means most of the public courses are at least a half-hour drive to reach, and the course hazards can be pretty treacherous (Clear Creek, Wildcat Lakes) or just dumb (Houston National, Wildcat Lakes).
I like East River 9, but $36 at the cheapest is a lot to pay for a nine-hole par 3 course.

San Diego muni system is like this but if you log on 5 seconds too late you get 4pm on a weekday and you’ll like it

5 minutes late and there’s nothing before 6pm

Forget weekends. You have to pay the advance booking fee and book months in advance to get any time

@KVV it feels like if you just use the audio from American Psycho and dub in golf courses for restaurants, you can launch that as your pod.
