I followed him back when this was mentioned on the Trap Draw. Loved hearing his story and he absolutely pounds the ball.
I understand getting the Asian perspective. But Sean’s comments just rubbed me the wrong way as it sounded a bit like sour grapes.
Municipal courses are run by municipalities, who stink at running things.
Take your shit opinions on government to the politics thread
Totally agree. I’d say in general it’s hard to get TOO upset because it’s golf which is why I think LA probably dragged its feet and this story hasn’t really escaped the golf media outside of a couple one off reports.
But if there was a select group of people that were taking advantage of another government provided service such as HUD Section 8 Housing Vouchers, there would be a lot more noise for sure.
While drastically different things, in both scenarios is it someone gaming a public service for profit and discriminating against others who are equally entitled to the service. Disgusting behavior
Like wealthier people versus poorer people?
Am all in favour of municipalities owning golf courses and keeping the access high and the prices low. They just shouldnt run the courses themselves as they arent good at it, no matter the city or country you are in.
This 100%. I can’t remember the exact wording, but him saying something along the lines of it shouldn’t be treated like an election/political event screams naïveté. That’s how you bring attention to wrongdoings in today’s world. I interpreted that as him saying “if he wouldn’t have done this nobody would’ve found out and that’s ok with me”. Also using the phrase “journalistic integrity” about a guy that has no journalistic experience and never claimed to even be any semblance of a journalist is laughable.
I have 6 different calendar notifications setup to grab times as they open. Even then I’m still unsuccessful 90% of the time getting the TT I want. It’s insane
Loved the format please do more of these.
I really enjoyed that you included a different perspective, it adds color to the story that otherwise would have felt really one sided. I don’t agree with Sean’s view of the situation, but I’m an outsider with limited information and a totally different life experience. I appreciate being able to hear what other people think in a respectful way.
I get where he is coming from, but defending the brokers like they are providing some great public service was a stretch for me. These brokers are out to make a profit and are using the “help our community” as a coverup. I don’t think many people actually have an issue with those that take advantage of the tee times, but more issue with the brokers themselves. I think that would come across as a less frustrating viewpoint.
Great reporting! Please keep them coming.
Irrelevant side note: I get very self conscious about my grammar in the threads you participate in. Writing something a Big J journalist might read gets me overthinking everything for some reason…
Yeah the guy at the end implying “they were just trying to help these hardworking people get tee times” while simultaneously preventing everyone else from getting tee times…. No thanks.
As a 2 time a week listener to Bomani’s podcast, hearing Sean on this one also blew my mind.
Hold up, it’s the SAME GUY? My mind is officially blown…
I was listening in the waiting room of daughters gymnastics class and after a few moments of trying to figure out how I knew the voice, yelled out “OHHHHHH!” to a silent room of parents who all turned their attention to me.
Now I know why I didn’t like him on this podcast, because he stinks on Bomani’s podcast and I don’t need to know about his stupid Prizepicks bets in every one.
The prize picks segments are so fucking dumb. Sports betting is evil too but that’s besides the point.
I appreciate that those are usually at the end of the pod so I can just skip the rest of it.
You know that’s and ad, right?
