For a minute I thought pinhigh27 was actually an ED burner b/c he had similar trolly boomer view, but, man, was I doing a disservice to how uniquely obnoxious and unhinged ED can be. Truly one of a kind!
I’ve thought the same thing. ED doesn’t engage in any actual golf discussion but that’s all pinhigh really does. I don’t think it’s the same person but pinhigh’s tone/intelligence shifted abruptly a few weeks ago. Probably a burner for multiple people.
32 according to this BBC article.
Is my stance on this really obnoxious and unhinged? Really??? I think I’m clearly articulating a fair point of view.
Or are those just code for “he disagrees with me.”
I would add narcissistic.
@tnord The course in your profile photo should be eradicated and restored to its natural habitat. You’re not a real environmentalist if you don’t agree.
It’s also not narcissistic at all. I wanted to see the economy of that rural area grow and flourish. I wanted to see the people and business owners of Embo, many of whom supported Keiser’s plan, have the opportunity for success.

It is. you don’t care at all about what the local community actually wants, or the impacts to the ecosystem are so long as it’s development into something you enjoy.
If Bandon was never built in the name of environmental conservation, I’d have no gripes. See also, equipment rollback.
I’m sure this is your #1 concern.
Huh? It’s a frog (and maybe a snake) that was the issue at Sharp Park. And not the reason the Dr. Mac holes were lost. Those were lost when they had to build a sea wall. The old holes used to actually play along the beach but that’s not possible with the sea wall now there.
Anyway, the frog and snake were among reasons cited by some that the course should close, or at least not be able to do any renovation or restoration work, which would help it improve and thus be able to stay open. But the neighbors who really started the campaign against it were really just bluntly against golf–they were very honest that they saw golf as a male, white game that had no community benefit.
The groups who signed on to that cause arguing on behalf of the frog and snake were really in the wrong, though. Both of those are freshwater animals. Prior to the existence of the course the only water on the property was Laguna Salada … aka, salty lake. Between the advent of the sea wall and the presence of the course that lake/pond eventually lost its salinity and its now freshwater which allowed freshwater animals t thrive. But it’s plainly silly to say those animals are indigenous to that particular area, because they couldn’t have lived in the salt water lake that existed there prior to when the course was built.
Well I’m clearly talking to a radical so I thank you for making that abundantly clear.
Interesting point here. I’ve seen this type of racist rhetoric before with environmental activists. “Rich white men” being thrown around as reasoning for their hatred of the game. I know the word “Marxist” gets thrown around all too frequently and often incorrectly, but these people are often true Manifesto adherents.
I do not suffer fools. enjoy hanging out with nandy on the block list.
Yeah, you’re the real victim here. You might have to go heliskiing a few extra days because you couldn’t play yet another golf course in Scotland.
No, he goes heliskiing because he doesn’t want to stand in a lift line next to someone listening to music he doesn’t approve of (that his kids actually listen to anyway in secret).
Get his complaints right, Jake!
What’s a good substitute activity for ED in europe?
