We have 70 people signed up, which is awesome. I’ll have to ask Dave for more tee times, which is awesome. People will drop off, you’ll have that with these types of events. If you cannot attend, please let me know so I can take you off the list as soon as possible. Nothing is worse than asking for a bunch of tee times then 12 people drop out the week of.
As a refresher, The Burban format is a modified four ball match between the Langford Lancers and the Moreau Marauders.
In four-ball, each side has a two-man team. Each individual plays their own ball and each team counts the lower net of its scores on a single hole. If the two teams post the same low score, the hole is halved. Each match is worth three points. Most holes won on the front 9, most holes won on the second 9 and the most holes won overall. Each member of the winning team will received $40 after the match.
So you’re asking, @PTM where’s the other $10 going? Well I’ve been encouraged to add a charity element to The Burban. So this year the proceeds will be going to Rage Softball/Richmond-Burton Baseball Association to help buy field mix for our softball fields. Our fields are pretty much unplayable for 2-3 days after a rain event and we are in dire need of high-quality field mix. We can buy a couple loads with the proceeds which would go a long way for a field.
Don’t worry, I’m using a brand new glove for the event because it was recently brought to my attention (in a not very respectful way) by @midwestgolfbum that using gloves too long might be part of the problem? Who’s to say?
As my friends put it, I’m one “the smartest dumbasses they’ve ever met”.
Also, should be a thrill for those paired with us to watch two guys desperately clinging to their last vestiges of youth and vitality via a no-stakes golf match generated on an niche internet golf message board
