Courses to Play in 2025

Didn’t want to scare the boys off too much. Need to buy an extra dozen in the shop if the warm-up doesn’t feel good.

Great assessment. It’s as good of a match play course as you’ll find and tests really good players without needing length or absurd rough to do it. The 7th hole is a great example. 470 yard par 5 but the line between birdie and bogey is incredibly thin.

Have to be in total control to shoot par or better out there in stroke play though. 1 under got an outright spot in the US Mid Am last time they hosted a qualifier for it.

Couple years ago in the 4-ball: I was pin high right, partner was middle of the green, right side pin. I dufffed one or two and picked up. Partner left his eagle putt a couple feet short, missed the birdie putt, ball rolls about 20 feet off the green into the bunker, we make double. Next day in match play I hit it to 4 feet and make eagle, one day apart 4 shots better lol.

I tripled 2 and missed by 1 that year :frowning:

That’s insane. That green is wild. You can miss just short with an 8 iron thinking you’re set for an up and down birdie and walk away with double in a hurry.

Hit it on the downslope in the left bunker? That left bunker is a death sentence to almost any pin.

I played that year too. Walked off #2 at Even after two tap-in pars, feeling great about myself, and then broke my hand on a swing on the 3rd hole and had to WD.

Nice to see the love to Musgrove! My Dad has been a member since before it opened. His childhood best friend and college roommate is the current and original superintendent! They can get that place playing as difficult as they want.

We’ve got a couple members on here. She’s a brute!

Used to live there. Never got on the Men’s Club, but there are some great stories. I always loved the one about the older gentleman who played late night bridge with his cronies and used to have his wife drop him off at the bottom of the driveway because she wasn’t allowed on the grounds. Don’t know if that still floats today.

Just working my way through this one and did not have TC shouting out Jekyll on my bingo card. I’ll be down there this weekend. Have played Great Dunes once before, and the other three on the island more times than I can count. Such a great destination for a golf trip, although having someone in the group who has a house on the island levels it up quite a bit. $0 lodging is tough to beat. I’ll have to do some research and put my list together, but the within an hour(ish) of home section is gonna be a tough scene.

I cannot wait to see what Brian Ross cooks up down at Jekyl. I talked to him about it for 15-20 minutes at last years Extinction and it sounds awesome! TC’s enthusiasm could be from the 65 he shot the last time he played a Brian Ross course too. Haha
