Good to know, for sure gonna make it out there soon. My expectations aren’t super high, but have heard its fairly solid. Have pretty realistic expectations of what the public golf scene is here in PHX, especially those in housing developments.
Throw the renovated Tucson Country Club in there as a palate cleanser and you’ve got a nice weekend.
Also your golden age and wildcards is an ideal get out of az summer trip that I did a few years ago and it’s awesome.
That’s very true! The more I think about it, my ring was so incredibly slow out there, I forgot a lot of the back. I played Orchards with my persimmons and it was a blast
Lowkey shocked Royal County Down didn’t make it on everyone but Soly’s bucket list.

IMO Culver is absolutely worth doing what you can to get on even though it’s 9 holes. Some fantastic L&M work going on out there that rivals Lawsonia.
I live about an hour from Canyata, what the @MerchCzar has heard is true. Just hard to explain how crazy it that this course is where it is. Complete BFE (bum fuck Egypt iykyk) and completely hidden. I was there with a group of 36 but know people that have had to course completely to your own group.
You forgot to add Augusta National to the Day Trip/Overnight list
Seems like every summer the wife makes noises about going to Tucson for a weekend in the summer and I’m like, “No ulterior motives here but I think the La Paloma Marriott is supposed to be nice.” Never made it happen for one reason or another.
Very excited about the trips to the opposite sides of Lake Michigan I have this year. Hopefully all goes well and both work out.
If you make it out our way, make sure to drop a line. Our roost holds an annual event here. Happy to Sherpa. It’s my “I need a golf reset” course. Sublime.
First off, alone, light fog at northwood is a truly spiritual experience.
Can never go wrong with Virtues! If you’re in that area of Columbus might as well include Denison too.
Trying to think about realistic possibilities. I have a big Michigan trip coming up in July so listing a bunch of courses we are going to try and hit on that adventure.

Caledonia (Pawley’s Island, SC)
- I’ve played a ton of extremely average Myrtle Beach courses over the years but haven’t had a chance to play the one that is actually “good”.
Solina Golf Club (West Columbia, SC)
- Used to play Indian River before the change so I’d love to make it out and see the remodel
Palmetto Golf Club (Aiken, SC)
- Long shot - But one day!
Day Trip/Overnight
Arcadia South + Bluffs (Bear Lake, MI)
- I’m honestly more excited for the South course? I think I’m just excited about the walk
Forest Dunes + The Loop (Roscommon, MI)
- Trying to convince my buddies to pony up and play the loop the next day so we can get the full experience
Golden Age
Belvedere (Charlevoix, MI)
- Truly just so pumped to see this place
Pasatiempo (Santa Cruz, CA)
- My wife and I are trying to get out to Big Sur for an anniversary trip. Just need to convince her that she would make a great caddy one of the days
Wild Cards
Southern Pines (Southern Pines, NC)
- CGA Lottery Tournament
Country Club of Asheville (Asheville, NC)
- CGA Lottery Tournament
Bucket List
Kingsley (Kingsley, MI)
- Any members free in July?!
Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Black Rock, VIC)
- Zero plans to make it to Australia with two kids under 4 but I can dream
Lahinch Golf Club (Lahinch, Ireland)
- I’ve been on such a MacKenzie kick lately and I think about the Tourist Sauce video of this course often
It’s about a 5 hour drive from my house. My aunt was an ER doctor in Augusta and lived in Montclair on Chatham Drive for over 50 years. She passed away in 2021. Drove it many times.
I was restricting the list to only courses I’ve never played. Denison is a fantastic course minus the usual back 9 complaints. Played there at an NLU event.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the pod on YT last night (I appreciate seeing expressions on top of the audio) and hope it becomes an annual staple.
Being a FL (and former Jax) resident, some of Soly’s and Tron’s answers for the local courses were surprising, but really it just shows that they’ve already played most the fancy private places in Florida. Us plebs can only daydream about days out at John’s Island West, Redstick, or the #JupLife courses (MacArthur, Apogee, Grove, etc.)
I’m sure DMK’s new Streamsong course will make the list for 2026 (assuming it’s open by then.
Also loved Tron’s method in the bucket list - pick one that represents a larger trip.
