Nice! We heard it a bunch in Hilton Head but didn’t get to spot it and take its picture.

I’ve been meaning to upload the pictures actually!
We saw an entire tree of nesting Anhinga and Ibis with a giant gator beneath. In the same area was the American Coot and the Common Gallinule. We saw the Turkey and Stork at Old South GC.
The Ring-necked duck was at our condo in the pond messing around with some mallards. Bonus pic of the raccoon squirrels that are native to the area. We had never seen them before either!

I think the turkey was the only one we’ve gotten before. She also got several good shots of the yellow-rumped warbler. Overall, it was a fantastic trip we’re excited to take again.

We’ve had a day today.
We started the day with my brother spotting three marbled godwits and one willet this AM along the Ohio river. Pics of pics. Super rare for our area.

We were hoping to see a (Danny) Willet on our trip but it was too early for them to be in HHI. Nice shots!

@SmokyMtn I always enjoy seeing how the Yellow-rumped Warbler bounces around in the trees and catching that butter square haha.
@FrequentFader what a list! That’s too cool with the Willets and Godwit. Those and the Red-eyed Vireo would be lifers for me.

I’m really hoping to see the Cerulean someday.
I’m on a streak of hearing but not seeing several new lifers. Lol
Yesterday, I clearly heard a White-eyed Vireo about 20 times. I was even able to pick out the general bush it was in, but never saw it lol.
Earlier in the week, essentially the same thing with a Pine Warbler.
Merlin also picked up a Baltimore Oriole but it was very very short two different and not long enough to confidently mark it.

I think I heard a whip-poor-will outside my parents’ house around dusk a couple weeks ago. Merlin said so but I’m not confident it was fully keeping up. I’d love to see one of those one day!

My wife surprised me with a trip to two new places to go on walks. I ended up with 14 new lifers. To me the highlights were getting to see and hear a Scarlett Tanager and an American Redstart.
This Blue-headed Vireo picture made me laugh.

We haven’t seen one in several seasons, but my wife got a Scarlet Tanager a few years ago at Island Pointe GC. It’s just up the road from the bird park at Seven Islands, and we often get better birds at the golf course than the state park!

I noticed several times when browsing around ebird that Dead Horse has quite the list of ones spotted as well.

Nothing crazy, but we had some Mourning Doves build a nest above my BBQ that we didn’t notice until it had eggs so left it, and they hatched this weekend

Blue Grosbeak today. It was a pleasant surprise.
Going on a warbler run tomorrow. Still need the majority of the warblers this year.

Finally got out to the park yesterday for a bit. Prospect park does not disappoint this time of year. Saw over 25 species in about 90 mins. No pics (remember to charge your camera batteries folks). HIghlights included:

Red-Eyed Vireo
Swainson’s Thrush
Hermit Thrush
Baltimore Oriole (Female)

There were reports of a Kentucky Warbler around but I never found it.
