We had our final spot grabbed by @dshaddy about an hour ago. If we end up with 3 more people interested, I’ll get an additional tee time added.

Since we’ve got lots of folks coming to the tournament from out of town, I compiled a “Travel Guide to Savannah” with hotel, food, drink, activities, and golf options for you all. Will re-send this out in an email about a month before the tournament, but figured I’d flag in case you haven’t booked hotels yet.

Is Jen’s And Friends still open? Thought that was the coolest martini bar in the world when I first visited there.

unfortunately not

“Savannah is well-known for its…ahem…libatious culture. Liberal open-container laws allow you to walk around the historic district with a drink in hand.”

Most bars in the historic district will have a stack of cups by the door. You can carry your beverage out with you, but no glass.

Pinkie Masters is a must stop. Many of my old haunts have closed, but Pinkie’s is an institution.

If you need late night sustenance, the fancy Parker’s is just a few blocks north of Pinkie’s on Drayton.

Pack your walking shoes.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and The Legend of Bagger Vance are good Savannah movies to whet your sightseeing appetite.

Edit:
Oh and Forrest Gump. Duh.

Hot off the press: The Savannah Peel will have not one, but TWO NIT spots to give out at our event.

We’re at 60 sign ups now and still have ~12 spots available, so if you have friends in your local roosts who are interested/on the fence, have them sign up!

Doubtful. Golf’s less fun when scratch players aren’t squirming and groaning about the handicap system.

It’s 18 holes of quota and then a horse race/shootout to determine winners. We’re discussing how we want that to work.

Could be:

  • 3 flights
  • Top 3 in each flight make horse race
  • Last two players standing get NIT spots

Could be:

  • Two flights (one low/one high) and we do separate horse races for each
  • Last player in each horse race gets NIT spot

Could be:

  • Four flights (low, low-middle, middle-high, high)
  • One horse race is made up of Low + Low-Middle, the other middle-high and high.
  • Top from each horse race gets spot.

We’ll figure out a proper system once we lock sign ups and have a good view of handicap spread (serious) and which players we want to collude against for maximum complaints (sarcasm).

I would take a spot on Sunday if still available

I added two extra times.

You’re in, rounding out the first of those extra times.

That means we have 4 spots remaining.
