3BR 4.0 July 20 2024 10 AM - Pete Dye River Course - Blacksburg VA - sign ups close 7/15

If any of the VT faithful plan on traveling to Huntington in a few weeks for the Grant Wells trophy, feel free to stop by our spot. (Shoot me a DM for details). We have 3 spots right beside the stadium. Game time has not been announced yet, but should be soon. I’m betting it’s a noon kick. If it’s early: breakfast. If it’s anything later than morning, probably tacos. Oh and beers, lots of beers.

Update

Kegs** n eggs, it is. It’s been a while since a breakfast tailgate, but we will have plenty and should be completely set up by 8:45.

** only getting one 1/6 barrel

How about a little wager. Loser has to keep/take back Grant Wells at quarterback for the rest of the season.

I am pleased to announce I have been able to hold the same rate for the course this year as last. This event will again be under $100.

A few things I need to get off my chest…

  1. You guys are great and have supported this thing from AP to now Pete Dye, its one of my favorite days ever of the year, I love ya for it.

  2. @Smidler @SammyShaf are the 4 life executive board

  3. @Tron Brother, you screwed up our name the first time on the podcast and forever sent us on a path we never wish to get off now. Its been 4 years an no one from NLU has come to this event. I am literally begging you to consider a stop here for the grass roots events and a chance to be our hero.

  4. @Double_Bogey_Dave please come back I miss you

  5. @JDGAFFLIN - guest of Honor and reigning national champion super fan for a CFB thread fun dual

Pre BR…

Playing in Forest VA @ Ivy Hill. Then a short 15 minute ride to Beale’s brewing company and BBQ for a few colder beers and briskets before heading south on 81 for the main event saturday.

It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed to this board. As soon as the date is confirmed, I input my PTO and start getting excited!!!

I cannot say enough great things about this event. Every year, the charitable donation blows out of the water the previous years’ gift. This attests to the generosity and all around good vibes of everyone involved. The course itself is great. Each year I have played I have met amazing people.

I envision this year being the best 3BR yet. When planning, make sure to come up the day before for the pre3BR. Each pre3BR has been at a course that showcases a friendly test to ease into the challenge of Pete Dye.

Plenty of AirBnB options surround the area, so bring friends.

I look forward to raising a Beales’s (my MVP local brew and official thirst quencher of the 3BR) to all of you as we toast the winner of the best damn event of the year!

Can other Roosts register for this puppy? I love playing golf outside the devil’s butt hole (Texas) in July.

Definitely monitoring this one, since I’m only 3.5 hours from this course :eyes:

sweet! I’ll add this to my roost event list. What is the best place to fly into?

Roanoke airport is the closest.

Roanoke is closest. Charlotte is 2:30ish from the course and usually considerably less than Roanoke to fly into.

There will be air bnbs down that way with groups of people having the time of their lives.

It’s a gem, not a mountain course either which is a nice change for me

Well worth the drive. A bunch of us attend from Richmond, about three hours.

This will be the 1st 3BR that doesn’t fall on the same day as my annual conference. It’s going on the schedule now.

Will it be fairly easy to get a replay that day or is this course pretty packed all weekend. Been wanting to check this course out for a while.

Typically is not a busy course. It’s 20 minutes from civilization, in a great location really far away from where any locals spend much time.

First time this doesn’t fall on the same weekend as some random wedding or a member/guest. This Hokie can’t wait to head back up to Blacksburg and relive the glory days!

This may be the first year I have considered any kind of “merch” run or sales thing but 4 years in I’m thinking a t shirt or something would be cool and there is snow on the ground and its wrestling season so I am on my butt i front of a screen a lot.

replay should be easy I would call up earlier in the week of the event since its like any other course gets full during the week in the summer.
