I also found the water right on 15. I bet many of you are wondering where there is water on 15.
noone needs to know how many of us were trying or how long that took
I’ll continue to start descriptions of my golf game with:
- elite punch out game
- the rest
Pretty sure this was first try. I don’t remember.
That sounds right to me
Yo that is WAY right. That’s wild, man
I legit love reading these comments from people I’ve hung out or played with meeting and having great times with other people I’ve hung out or played with.
Watching that drive and Lucas’s magic were the few times Randy was truly speechless last week.
Me, seeing it when you picked me up Wednesday morning and we met for the first time -
“hey, sick rental car!”
You, reminded again that you didn’t get remotely what you asked for -
“Bullshit Chrysler knock off with a Mas badge. Its trash.”
I knew we were going to have a wonderful day!
Didn’t I send you this same picture?
In true Midwest fashion you hear “Ope!” right before impact with the sign
All,
Here is a receipt of the donation to Youth on Course for all the money Venmo’d to me for Bet on Yourself and Mystery Boxes. The donation reads “Donated by the good people at NLU’s NIT 2024”. Thank you for helping the kids!
I feel like we should set a goal for next year to raise over $10,000
Here, now we did!
I think @Tron submitted a separate donation for the quilt.
But great to see someone step up as well!
Ouch
Since you asked for it, and surely aren’t the only one waiting for me to weigh in…
The TLDR is that this event, and community, remain undefeated.
Early morning flight Thursday direct from CLT to PHX went off without a hitch, landed around 9:15 and was at Dobson Ranch before 10:30. Got to enjoy a wonderful scouting round with Dags98 MrChickPhilA and a new friend from the PNW @durrtydurr, which was a delightful start to the weekend!
The welcome reception was a ton of fun, shoutout to Team Titleist for all of the stations they had set up - wedge fitting/target game, long drive/driver testing, ball fitting - was really cool to talk with them and learn about all they have going on.
Dobson having the lights on the range and allowing us to completely take over Thursday night made for an awesome time. Highlights included watching Neil “cram for the test” and John Pond fix KVV’s swing with a simple alignment adjustment (I’ll let him speak as to whether it carried through the weekend).
While I knew I wasn’t likely to compete for “Best Dressed”, you know I had to do it to em
I think it was Tron who said something to the effect of “what a cast of characters this flight is” while we were doing the flight photos, and listen, you don’t become a Country Music Sensation without having a bit of a reputation, a motley crew indeed.
I want to give a shoutout to @GremlinGolfer @Rev @searanch (the Ace man who also cleans up at the poker table) and @Cjmcgowan2 for welcoming me into their airbnb for the weekend, for the post-Dobson Chick-fil-A each night, and for introducing me to the wonders of driverless taxis!
While my golf game wasn’t particularly sharp on Friday I had an awesome time teeing it up with @jcedmonds @UncleSleezy and @lwalk5 in the morning, as well as @Dex_G @buckeyedude7 and Rev in the afternoon, would love to and hope to play with all of you again down the road.
My poor play in the early rounds serendipitously resulted in an all time pairing Saturday morning of myself, GooseTrego, JohnP, and MrChickPhilA. I’ve been fortunate to play a lot of golf this year with a ton of great people, but that morning’s round jumps straight to the top, real tank-filling stuff. The quality of golf played that round is truly unimportant compared to the laughs and memories made with friends!
Want to congratulate all the Flight Winners for their great play, especially HHSBallCoach for his exceptional final round - it was fun to follow along, and of course to our new Champion reinben, the shots on 13 and 18 champion-worthy stuff!
Away from the on course happenings - Dobson is a great venue to host the NIT and as others have said, really captured some of that Jax Beach energy from years past. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive all weekend, the facilities, food trucks, and hangout areas each night were fantastic.
Lucas, the Director of Magic, is a true master of his craft and kept us all thoroughly entertained all weekend long
I’d be remiss if I didn’t shoutout Erin, the GOAT, for all of her event coordination and planning - the best to do it and somehow continues to outdo herself year after year - we are incredibly lucky to have you and all that you do for us!
And the rest of the NLU crew, without y’all none of us would be here - on the Refuge, hosting events in our own areas, building community, hanging out on Zooms, meeting new people, traveling the country and the world to play golf together, raising thousands of dollars for various charities - what you’ve built and enabled us to grow is tremendous.
There are too many people, old friends and new, that I could mention but I’ve likely reached my tagging limit, so I’ll just offer a sincere thank you to everyone who was there last weekend, it always is a pleasure.
This community has been incredibly important to me the past few years and I am very thankful for the many friends it’s brought into my life. Looking forward to making my way back, wherever it may be, next year!
Still on date night
