1094: Tour finales, a new top 100 list + The Park

Agree, but they’ve earned it.

More of a fan of discussions around Top 100 under x dollar courses. Can unearth some real achievable gems

This was the most shocking part of the pod, apparently I wasn’t familiar with Mr. Bigs game

Also, as someone who’s played 1 top 100, I can confidently say, The Park is amazing and is well worth the money, would recommend

I think we paid about $280 but that’s out of state (we’re Scottish, don’t you know!) and for a primo 10am tee time.

That said, worth every penny.

For the record, I’m on 31 of the current golf.com World Top 100 and I can safely say that The Park is better than some of the courses I’ve played from the list.

+1. It’s competition isn’t Orlando resort golf or the standard fare if S.FL, it’s Streamsong and Cabot. In that bracket it’s a bargain. (Possible Hot Take: The Park is better than both Cabot courses)

It begs the question:

Should @Randy lose his Strapped Brother title?

The Park is a great golf course with a strong, youth-focused, caddy program. But the best part about The Park is the nighttime hang that can be enjoyed by golfers and non-golfers of all ages. My kids spend hours lapping the putting course and Lit 9. There is also the best restaurant in the area and the outdoor bar scene is really fun.

We take a family trip to West Palm every year to escape the Cleveland winter. While the warm weather and beaches are the main draw, we also book a house as close to The Park as possible.

The Park is a very special place that I hope becomes a model for other community focused golf facilities.

What’s the rate for West Palm Beach residents? Even though people are saying it’s a great price for the quality, that doesn’t really help if it’s still too expensive for locals to play on a regular basis. It’s great that the place is a good deal for northerners visiting the area who are private club members in their own areas. But would hate to see if locals who can’t afford to join a private club are also being priced out of their own muni.

Rates for this Sunday are $245 for out of state and $195 for Florida residents. They use dynamic pricing, so that rate drops about $40 on Monday and Tuesday. West Palm residents can buy a card for $25 to get a bigger discount, but I can’t see those rates. It’s also still shoulder season pricing, so rates will be higher from mid December to the end of April.

Just to set the record straight that he’s not purposely big game hunting the Golf.com Top 100, a lot of his pelts are work related.

  • Cypress Point - Walker Cup media day
  • St. Andrews - He’s was doing radio for the Women’s Open (and Tourist Sauce)
  • RCD - NLU Northern Ireland video
  • Royal Melbourne - Tourist Sauce
  • Pebble Beach - USWO media day with Michelle Wie (though I’m guessing he’s played other times)
  • Pinehurst No 2 - Tourist Sauce at least?
  • North Berwick - Tourist Sauce the Rickie episode :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
  • Lofeton - Tourist Sauce Took a hike instead lol

If you want to accuse him of c-suiting it, that’s where you can point to the seemingly annual net golf thrashings of Poosh at the posh Valley Club of Montecito…

For the record, I truly don’t care. I’m admittedly a bit of a Bag Tag Barry when it comes to my travels. If I’m near a top whatever course and have the ability to play it, I try to make it happen. They’re highly ranked for a reason, and if I’m only ever getting to a place once, I’d be dumb (IMO) to not try and play that course.

I’m just not going to miss the chance for a good natured jab at the big guy.

Sorry wasn’t being as serious as it sounded!

Didn’t take it that way!

Totally understand your sentiment; I need the Soly to acknowledge how fortunate he is when discussing T100 experiences to keep my blood from boiling. What you’re getting at underscores the most frustrating rift between golf culture in America versus the British isles. The best golf courses in UK are accessible to everyone even if they are expensive. What’s more is that whenever you do pay to visit a great Scottish club you are welcomed without an ounce of pretension or elitism. My wife and I took the pilgrimage in April. Elitism and exclusion are present in golf but be comforted that we are the enigma choosing to corner this market. God bless Mike Keiser.

Wait golf is expensive?
